Being here was. . . quite an experience. Mom made plans for me to go out with her and Cara to go out to eat and shopping. Tobias will be with the guys and he will have the boys. So it would be a break for me.
"Overall," Tobias clears his throat as we watch the boys lay on their stomachs in front of us. We came back from dinner with my family and now we are sitting on the bed with our pajamas on. "How do you think today went?" Tobias looks up at me as I lay flat against the pillows, feeling the heat from the heater hit my face.
"I think it went better than expected. Honestly. I thought I would have had to throw some hands, but I really didn't. Even though they're still standoffish and have their issues things are look better." I smile at my husband who looks at me with love radiating off of him, "Thanks for coming with me and working with me and my crazy family."
"I do it because I love you." Tobias leans over and kisses my lips and before we could deepen it, we hear a loud squeal and I look to see Matthew trying to crawl towards his brother that's closer to me. Jonah smiles and his pacifier falls out of his mouth, Matthew, who think he's crawling but really moving his body back and forth, face plants into the bed and places the pacifier in his mouth and Jonah laughs at his little brother. "Our boys." Tobias shakes his head and I laugh.
"We need some alone time," I say after a while, sensing some unwanted tension. Tobias looks to me and raises his eyebrows. "Maybe I could see if my parents would watch the boys, so they can 'bond', maybe you and I can stroll around town or something."
"And come back to the hotel room." Tobias smirks pressing another kiss to my lips, since day the first hour of the boys being in the world Tobias and I didn't have a lot of Tris and Tobias time, it was more like Tris, Tobias, Matthew. . . and Jonah. Not to mention all of our other family coming to see us like Christina and Will. "Maybe the boys can spend the night." Another kiss.
"That sounds great."

"So, Beatrice," I clear my throat when I hear my mom call me that as we browse through racks of clothing in one of the most expensive stores here in Chicago, Tangerine. At first you think it's all playful and cheap from the inside but when you walk in you are truly taken back. I nearly swallowed my tongue when I saw a shirt for almost 50 dollars. "See anything you like?"
"Not really, it's all too expensive."
Mom gives me a tight smile, "So where do you buy your clothes?"
"I go shopping at my friends boutique, you met her at the wedding." Bittersweet moments pop into my head at the argument with my mother but then being with Tobias at the end, "Christina, and usually just the regular old stores. I'm not really. . . old so I still go to places like Forever 21. . . stuff like that." I trail off, my voice getting quieter every moment.
"See, if you lived here. You can change your job at that reckless place, leave that tall building and like in a neighborhood where the kids can play. We can go shopping together-"
"Did we go shopping just for you to criticize me?" I spit, furrowing my eyebrows, "I came down here to build a relationship, not destroy the pieces that are already broken. You have to realize that I am not coming back home. . . ever. I like where I am, I like my job, I like my family up there, and I like the clothes that I buy. . . It's simple and you have to accept my life."
Mom lets out a rough, annoyed, sigh, "Okay." She suddenly turns happier when Cara walks out from the dressing room in a black dress that comes past her knees and long sleeves with a collar. . . she looks horrible, "Oh you look beautiful! You can wear that with us the next time we go to a yacht party."
