I should've put this in this book years ago, but please do not read this book if very little use of contractions bothers you in stories. Please don't also assume that this was my first book just because I didn't use contractions often within it. That literally has nothing to do with my development as a writer nor is it appropriate to assume that this is my first book based off that one thing. If you have questions about something, ask me. Don't assume things about me or my ability as a writer based off a book that I wrote. I'm sorry to make you have to read this, but it had to be said. It had to.

   Y/N'S POV

I worked for the Daily Planet. The Daily Planet had its not-so-great moments, but this was where I wanted to be. I loved my job more than anything. I had no idea what I would do without it. This was my passion..
Right now, I was working on an article for Superman saving Lois Lane..once again. I was not jealous. Okay, maybe I was, but there was just something about it that frustrated me. What was it about Lois that immediately stole Superman's attention? Maybe it was her courage to go out and do anything just for her paper or story. I don't know.

I would not call it "courage," but that was just me. I sounded so rude right now, sorry. The truth was: I had eyes for the Man of Steel, but he would/could never see me that way. I was just a reporter still trying to find her place in the world.
I felt someone standing over my desk and looked up to see Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen. Clark offered me a smile, before I smiled back at him. There was just something about Clark. That something could just make you feel warm and light on the inside.

Clark warmly asked me,"So, how has your day been, Y/N? Everything going okay?"

I pushed the article aside and nodded saying,"Yeah, just a little shaken up. Olsen, what are you smirking about?"

Jimmy shrugged and sat on top of my desk. I went to push him off, but I really wasn't in the mood right now.

Jimmy chuckled but smirked saying,"Someone is in love with Superman!! Did you see it, Clark? Show him, Y/N.."

I sighed and looked up at Clark.

Clark sent me a soft smile before Jimmy said,"Admit it, Y/N. You want Superman to be yours.."

I stood up from my desk and grabbed my purse, then I headed towards the door.

A gentle hand grabbed my arm and Clark said,"Jimmy's just joking, all right? He just wanted to have some fun..Where are you going?"

"To get some lunch. I will be right back, Kent. Do not run off before I get back.."

Clark chuckled and smiled back saying,"I will try not to, but I can not make any promises. Stay safe, all right?"

I nodded to Clark, before I spotted Lois walking down the hall. She rolled her eyes at me, and I just wanted to pounce on her.
I ignored my decision, before I noticed Clark blushing. Did I do that to him? I smiled proudly and made my way to my car.

I tried to get in my car, but then I realized I did not have my key. Ughhh, really? I must have left them on my desk again. This was why I hated being responsible for certain things..

I turned, only to hear a voice ask me,"Missing these, Y/N?"

  Clark jogged towards my car.

I sighed in relief and said,"Thanks, Kent. I do not know what I would do without you..I feel bad now. Do you want something?"

Clark's hand brushed mine, as he handed me my keys.

My cheeks immediately flushed with color, while Clark smiled down at me saying,"Sure, I will come with you. You are welcome, Y/N."

I just sent him a smile and got into the passenger seat, while Clark took the driver's seat. He offered to drive, and I was not going to turn the man down.
Once we got to the coffee shop, Clark held open the door for me. I kissed his cheek in thank you, before he led me inside. Clark and I waited in line, and then we finally made it to the register.

The cashier said,"What are you getting today, ma'am?"

I told her my order before she said,"Your total is gonna be 7.25."

I nodded and pulled out my wallet, only for Clark to pay for the both of us.

He just headed back to the table, and the cashier said to me,"You two make a lovely couple, by the way."

I looked at her startled, not really knowing what to say. Did Clark and I seem that close already? Aren't men supposed to always buy stuff for the girl? Not in every circumstance, but in most?

I just said,"Thank you. No, keep the rest.."

She just smiled real big and nodded, before she headed to the back. I walked back to the table and grabbed our drinks, and Clark took them from me.

He sat them down and I said,"Kansas, what is with all the love and care, today? Not that I do not like it, but I am just not used to getting all this.."

Clark put his coffee down and looked me in the eyes saying,"Because you deserve it, Y/N. I know we have known each other for a long time, but you are a valuable friend. I would do anything to make you smile. I can tell you have been hurt in the past, which is why I try to make sure I do not come out rude in any way. You will always be important to me, okay?"

I nodded and put my hand over Clark's saying,"Thank you, Clark. That means a lot to me..C'mon, let's get back before Olsen has a heart attack."

Clark chuckled and grabbed my coffee for me. Slowly but surely, we made our way back to the Daily Planet.
