   Y/N'S POV

I woke up the next morning to find out that Clark was not here. Where could he be? I slowly sat up and put on my robe, before I made my way down the steps. Krypto barked at me and circled around my legs, which made me smile at seeing him happy.

I bent down in front of Krypto and said,"Where is Superman? I-"

I stopped myself, when I heard reporters talking about Superman's actions. I rolled my eyes and quickly shut the T.V. off, before I felt a familiar breeze come across my body.
I turned and saw Superman standing there. I examined Clark and instantly saw the pain and suffering in his once daring and encouraged blue eyes.

Superman finally met my gaze and sighed saying,"What did I do wrong, Y/N? Why does it feel like the world is crumbling beneath my feet. I..I thought I was making a difference here.."

I frowned and it broke my heart to see Clark so down. He walked over to the backyard and leaned on the patio, while his cape moved with the wind.

I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around Superman's waist saying,"You have made a difference, baby. They just do not have the ability to understand what is going on. You did not kill those people or bring the war to Earth. Zod's sudden appearance was not your fault, because you had no idea he was going to find you. You didn't even know that he was still alive. Kal, you have the strength to prove to the world that you have not given up yet. Where is that smile that I have been missing like crazy? You say that to me, now I want to see your smile, Kent."

When Clark's eyes met mine, I began to see them getting back to normal. I smiled and figured I would keep on encouraging Clark, while I complimented him at the same time.

Superman pulled me close and rubbed my back slowly saying,"I am sorry I left you this morning, but I had to take some time. You understand, don't you, darling? Plus, I was afraid.."

I waited for Clark to finish, but he never did.

I cupped his face and pecked his lips softly saying,"Afraid of what, Clark? You can talk to me, remember? It is what couples are supposed to do, even if you are the Man of Steel himself."

Superman chuckled weakly, which made me smile up at him. He tried to send me a smile, but it did not really last too long.

His voice cracked as he looked into my eyes saying,"Afraid..that..I..I would lose..you. I did not think I would be able to face you, because I had figured they would have gotten into your head, too. I..I think I should go.."

Was Clark serious? Superman was not going anywhere, so I just sung to him.

Superman closed his eyes, while I smiled and stroked his cheek saying,"Clark Kent, if there is anything you are; it is brave and daring. I have never met a man who cares so much about me and protecting his city. I know it seems like it is over, baby, but it is far from done..You still have something to prove, and I refuse to let you give up now because of your fear of losing someone else you care about. Kansas, let me tell you something.."

I probably should not have called him that, because I mostly did it when I was joking around with him.

I shook off the thought and rubbed Clark's knuckles saying,"You are not the only one who has suffered greatly and tried their hardest to fit in. Life catches everyone off-guard, Clark, even if it is at the expected time. Once it does, you just have to learn to pick yourself up and keep on moving. Can you do that, Superman?"

Superman looked down at me and nodded saying,"For you, I would do anything. I love you so much, darling.."

I smiled at Clark getting his confidence back. I knew it was going to take a while for him to fully recover, but we were making improvements slowly.
Clark gazed at me for a moment, before he crouched down in front of Krypto.

Krypto stood up straight, and Superman patted his head saying,"Can you do me a favor, boy? I need you to watch Y/N, while I am away on business. This is very important, and I would hate to lose either one of you. Understand?"

Krypto barked and tried to nod, which made Superman smile. He rubbed Krypto's head one more time, before he kissed me softly and flew off. I almost lost my balance but caught myself and walked into the living room.

Krypto lied down across my lap, while I began to think about how much this whole thing was affecting Clark.
