Chapter 28

   Y/N'S POV

  As I finished putting up the decorations for the party, I noticed Krypto carrying the bowl of chips over to the table. I couldn't help but smile and make my way into the kitchen. Mom was teaching Clark how to make her famous recipe, so I didn't want to intervene.

  Mom noticed me walk in and smiled saying,"Hey, hon. Your boyfriend is a real keeper..How did you two meet again?"

  I went to say which one, but I knew Mom wouldn't understand yet.

  Clark answered for me with,"We work together, ma'am, at the Daily Planet."

  Mom nodded and pinched my cheeks saying,"Aww, that's so cute, darling. Don't worry, I completely approve of this relationship. Though, Clark do you get that you look like Superman?"

  Clark chuckled, while I honestly said,"Mom, he is Superman. I told you that like a thousand times already..Clark told you yesterday!"

  Mom thought about it, and I couldn't help but giggle and smile over at Clark.

  Mom sighed and kissed my cheek saying,"I'm sorry, Y/N. My memory isn't always the best.."

  I nodded and hugged Mom, before she hugged back.

  I hugged her tighter, explaining to her,"It's okay, Mom. Thanks for being okay with all of this. Don't worry, you'll enjoy the party.."

  Mom smiled and kissed my forehead, then she headed out of the kitchen.

  Clark turned to me, and I laughed saying,"You look a little intimidated, Kansas. She talked to you, didn't she?"

  Clark actually shivered, which made me giggle loudly.

  I walked over to Clark and kissed his jaw saying,"Don't worry, Kent, I'll keep you around a little longer. I'm absolutely positive no one could ever replace you.."

  I turned around and exited the kitchen. I could feel Clark smiling behind me, which made me smile and double check on everything for the party.
  After that was done, I took a quick run to the bakery and store to pick up the cake and ice cream. Once I got back, the house was already filled with guests. Well, that was quick..

  I went to take the cake in the kitchen, but J'onn stopped me and kindly said,"Y/N, I will gladly put this in the kitchen for you. It's the right thing to do.."

  I awwed at J'onn's gentleman manner and bowed dramatically in thank you. When he smiled, I could see through his green, Martian skin. I just smiled in return and finished the last of the set-up. I bumped into someone, which I was quick to apologize for.

  Bruce chuckled and took the ice cream from me, before he kissed my forehead and brought it into the kitchen. Wow, this was what it felt like to be loved by everyone..
  I just smiled at the feeling, knowing I had made an even bigger family. I spotted Mom talking to Flash, and I just giggled watching her. She was actually a big fan of him, believe it or not, I wasn't gonna be the one to ruin her dreams of asking him every question in the book and getting answers.

  Although I went to pour myself some punch, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned and saw a young boy, who had black hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a Superman t-shirt with some jeans. Behind those blue eyes, I could see all the anger and pain behind them.

  He scratched his neck and awkwardly asked me,"I'm sorry, but do you know where the bathroom is?"

  I nodded and smiled saying,"Sure, follow me. Don't worry, I won't follow you in.."

  He laughed at my joking manner, which made me relieved for him as well. I used to be a little awkward too when it came to parties.

  Maybe I still am. I don't really know..

  Once we made it to the bathroom, I entertained myself with thinking of what I would do tomorrow. I did not come up with much of anything, however, I noticed the boy was already out of the bathroom.

  I blushed in embarrassment and said,"Sorry, I have a habit of wondering off. What is your name? I am Y/N, but you can call me N/N.."

  He shook my hand and smiled as best as he could saying,"I am Conner Kent. My last name is Kent, but I am more of Superman's clone. Cadmus made me to answer your questions."

  I smiled at Conner, highly impressed, before I giggled saying,"You get it a lot, don't you?"

  Conner nodded and said in an irritated tone,"It gets annoying, but I do not mind you asking me. Clark says I can trust you. So does Kara.."

  I smiled at the thought and nodded saying,"I'll do my best to keep it, Conner. Say, do you think you can help me with the cake?"

  Conner smiled and nodded, before he took it from me. I made my way back to the main area, before I noticed everyone looking at me.

  I cleared my throat and looked at Clark saying,"Please tell me I didn't do anything, Kent."

  Clark chuckled, while Bruce smiled at me saying,"No, Y/N, you could never do anything wrong. We just wanted to thank you for this..I'm speaking for everyone, if you ever need anything we'll all be here."

  I nodded and took deep breaths. Then, Clark rushed over to my side.

  He held my hands while Mom said,"Calm down, darling. You're stronger than this.."

  I managed to pull myself together, before I walked over to the table. Surprisingly, everyone could fit in our living room. Conner helped me cut out the cake, while Barry and Oliver helped pass out the ice cream.
 
  As we all ate together, I realized that maybe I was not alone. Maybe I would always have something to fight for.
