Chapter 29

   Y/N'S POV

  The next morning, I found Clark standing on my back porch.

  He must have used his Super hearing, because he chuckled saying,"Y/N, it's very hard to sneak up on me, you know? I'm no Batman, but I have special hearing abilities.."

  Clark was trying to dumb it down for me, and I still did not understand what he was saying. Maybe it was because it was 2 in the morning.

  I rubbed my eyes and Clark walked up to me saying,"Go back to sleep, darling. I'll be all right.."

  I nodded, but I was not really gonna drop it. Clark smiled and kissed my forehead, nose, and cheek. I smiled in return, but I knew Clark was not okay. I acted like I was leaving, before I went inside and grabbed a blanket. I wrapped it around myself, before I gently pushed the back door open and sat down next to Clark.

  Clark looked over at me and sighed saying,"I thought I told you to go back to sleep. L/N, I'm fine."

  I leaned on Clark's shoulder and softly said,"No, you're not. Clark, something has changed inside you. Don't you see it? You're not as hopeful or daring as you used to be. Let me see your hand, Kent."

  Clark looked into my eyes for the longest, before he held his hand out in front of me.

  I intertwined his fingers with mine and leaned on Clark's hand saying,"I never got the chance to talk to you, so I'm doing it now. It's okay to be afraid and feel out of place, Clark. In a way, you've been since the beginning. This wasn't your actual home, but it came to become more than that to you on the inside. Martha told me about your fear of losing me and your identity, but Clark you're stronger than the world knows."

  Tears started to form in Clark's eyes, before he squeezed my hand saying,"How are you so sure of that, Y/N? Look at all the people who's been put in harms way because of me. You, of all people, should not even love me or want to support me, after all I've done."

  I cut Clark off by resting my hand over his mouth saying,"Kent, no one tells me what to do but myself. I love you and no one will ever take your place. I'll always need you around, because you always see the best in people; especially me. If it wasn't for you, then I'd be somewhere that would definitely not make my mom happy.."

  I looked at Clark and I's hands, before I brought them in between us.

  Clark leaned on mine, while he said,"So, how do I make the pain go away, Y/N? How do you do it?"

  I smiled over at Clark saying,"By realizing that somethings are out of my control. Clark, you can't save everyone or everything that has come your way. Many heroes have tried, but there's always someone who needs saving. You just have to deal with what's close to you, before you start battling for something bigger and more advanced than yourself. Try, for me and Metropolis?"

  Clark smiled and leaned in saying,"Of course, princess.."

  I kissed back and smiled in the kiss. Clark pulled away and sat me in his lap, before he noticed my blanket.

  He chuckled and said,"Really, Y/N?"

  I defensively yelled back,"HEY, MAN OF STEEL, DON'T HATE ON CURIOUS GEORGE!"

  Clark held up his hands in surrender, before I giggled and kissed his jaw.

  Clark relaxed and leaned more into me, and I played with his fingers saying,"How does it feel when you're flying, Superman?"

  Clark looked up at the stars saying,"It's the best feeling in the world, Y/N. I was a little shaky at first, but I thought about what my father once told me. He believed in me, and I had to do the same for myself."

  I nodded and cupped Clark's face saying,"I don't have to be the best genius in the world to know that he's already proud of you, Clark. He sees all you've been through and admires your push to get through the darkest of times. Go ahead and cry, Kent.."

  Clark chuckled weakly, but he did start crying. I awwed and hugged him, while he hugged back.

  Clark cried saying,"I love you so much, Y/N."

  I snuggled into Clark and said,"I know you do, Clark. I love you, too, baby."
