Smallville inspired this chapter, so, thank God for Smallville!! I loved it, so I'll do anything to reference it when I can..

   Y/N'S POV

In the middle of the night, I could feel Clark's muscles tense at me trying to get up. I just smiled and snuggled back into him, before I was turned around. I gasped at the sight before me. Clark didn't look too good, and I immediately brought my hand up to his face.

Clark put his hand over mine and weakly said,"Darling, I'm fine.."

I gave him a look and ran my fingers through his hair saying,"No, you're not, Kent. Why didn't you wake me up and tell me you weren't feeling okay?"

Clark sighed and looked me in the eyes saying,"Because I didn't want you to worry, because I stress you out enough.."

Clark looked down, and I frowned at the sight before me. I wasn't always used to seeing this side of the Clark: the doubtful and depressed side. He, normally, always had a smile, or even a stride to his walk that made him so cheerful and the amazing reporter that he was.
I scooted over closer to Clark, but he chuckled a little and pulled me into his chest by his amazing arm strength.

I just smiled and removed his glasses saying,"I don't care whether I'm with Clark Kent or Superman, because it's my job to worry about both of them, okay? I love you for both, Clark, and I wouldn't have it any other way. You may stress me out in certain situations, but sometimes we all need a little push to do something better. Understand?"

Clark nodded and kissed my forehead, before he wrapped the covers back around us. I let him get comfortable, before I reached over him and checked his temperature.

Clark had a high fever and the last thing I wanted him to do was move.

I leaned over him and cupped his face saying,"I'm gonna give you some medicine and you try to get some sleep, okay? If you don't, Kent, I will get Krypto.."

Clark chuckled and nodded, before he laid on his opposite side. It was not long before he began to try to close his eyes. I gently tapped his face and gave him some medicine, before Clark slowly closed his eyes again. I smiled, but something did not feel right about all of this.
I just kissed Clark's cheek, nose, and forehead, before I headed down the stairs and sat down on the sofa. I leaned back and Krypto came running and jumped into my lap.

I smiled and rubbed his head saying,"I missed you, more, Krypto. Keep an eye on Clark for me, okay?"

Krypto barked up at me, before he jumped off my lap, rushing up the stairs. I smiled and felt someone get in beside me. I knew it was Mom, so I didn't even have to say anything.

Mom put an arm around my shoulder and asked me,"You feeling okay? Where's Clark?"

I sighed and rubbed my arms saying,"He's upstairs sleeping. He has a fever, but he was just fine earlier this morning. I have a bad feeling on the inside, but I guess I just.."

I stopped halfway in my sentence and looked down.

Mom rubbed circles on my back saying,"He'll be fine, hon. All we can do is make sure he gets the rest he needs and support, too, okay?"

I nodded and heard footsteps. I turned and Clark began walking down the stairs.

I immediately got up and walked over to him saying,"Baby, why are you up? You need to get some more rest.."

Clark put his hands over mine and kissed my nose saying,"I'll be fine, I've been through worse. I just need to get some fresh air for a minute..I love you, Y/N."

I smiled and kissed Clark multiple times saying,"I love you, most, Superman."

Clark looked at me, before he let go of my shoulder and walked outside.

I turned and looked at Mom saying,"Somethings definitely not right! Don't you see it too, Mom?"

Mom shrugged and said,"He looks a little pale and exhausted, but I'm sure it's because he's been out during hero work and all..Maybe he's just tired and needs some more sleep."

I said in frustration and worry,"But this is Clark Kent we're talking about, Mom!! He can't just get sick!! Something's going on with him.."

Mom gently pushed me towards the door saying,"Well, go and talk to him, then. You are his weakness, darling."

I sent Mom a soft smile, before I headed outside. Clark was leaning on the deck, while I stood in front of him.

He glanced over at me and said,"Go back inside, sweetheart. I'm fine.."

I walked up to Clark and rested my hands on his shoulders saying,"Will you please stop lying to me and tell me what's going on with you? Clark, I know you've been feeling a little down lately, but I hate seeing you like this. Please, I just want to make sure everything is okay, please.."

Clark lifted my chin and kissed me slowly, before I kissed back. He pulled me closer by my waist, while he chose to pull away first.

I pouted at his loss of touch, but Clark rested his forehead on mine saying,"When I was younger, I always had that fear that my parents wouldn't be there when I came back. I figured on my way to school that they'd take that chance to leave me and not come back. Sure enough, there they were just sitting there and waiting to hear about my day."

I wrapped my arms around Clark, before he wrapped his around mine.

He kissed my forehead and said,"But I knew that one day I would have to face my fears. I guess I'm just afraid that Mom won't be there anymore, or even you."

I kissed Clark's jaw and held on for a while.

Once I pulled away, I nuzzled my nose against Clark's neck saying,"I would never leave you for anyone else. You're too important to me, and I love being around you, Kansas. Trust me, your mom wouldn't dream of being without you, because you're her son and she loves you too much to leave."

Clark nodded and went to kiss me, but I worriedly said,"Baby?"

Clark began to get that look on his face, and I knew something wasn't right. He held on to the railing, before he fell down the stairs.

I watched in horror, before I jumped over the stairs and shook him gently yelling,"CLARK!!"
