   Y/N'S POV

Every day Jade grew stronger and more like her father. There were times where Jade and Clark butted heads, which often times ended up in Clark or Jade not speaking to the other. Since I didn't stand for that in my house, I always made them work out their issues.
I knew there would be a day one day where Clark, Bruce, Diana, Kara, and even Alfred wouldn't be here, so I needed to know Jade would be able to be okay. I had to know that.

She was now 18 years old, and she was really a spitting image of me. Most of the time, Clark couldn't tell us apart. I'm joking, my age showed Jade and I's differences, but we still were very alike. I appreciated that Jade still wanted to be a part of both Clark and I's life.

Right now, Jade was getting ready for her date with her boyfriend, whom I actually adored. I felt that he was perfect for Jade, but it took Clark a minute to get used to him. I just think it was because he wasn't ready to let his "princess" go yet.

Jade walked into Clark and I's bedroom saying,"Mom, he's here. Where's Dad?"

I actually had no idea where Clark was, but when he walked through the door, Jade's eyes lit up.

She rushed to him and hugged him saying,"You're back! You've been gone all day!"

Clark smiled and said,"I'm sorry, but I'm here. I made it. Is he here yet? I need to talk to him."

Jade groaned and tried to beat Clark down the stairs. I laughed and walked out of the room, then I walked downstairs.
Jade had her arms wrapped around Howard's neck, while Clark's eyes were turning red.

I immediately rushed over to Clark and said,"Babe, we talked about this. Stand down. She'll be back before you know it."

Clark's eyes returned to those blue eyes I had loved for many years now, and then Jade turned back to Clark and I.

She said,"You sure you guys don't need me here?"

Clark fixed his glasses and said,"Well actually-"

I closed Clark's mouth and replied,"We'll be fine, my love. Go. Be careful, which I know you will be."

Jade smiled warmly at me and kissed my cheek before she turned to Clark. Clark was looking everywhere but at Jade. I knew he was upset that she was leaving. I was upset, too, to be honest, but I trusted my daughter. I also trusted Howard.

Jade walked up to Clark and said,"Dad, it's okay. I know how to take care of myself. You taught me. If I need you, I'll call you and mom. I promise."

Clark looked at Jade and hugged her. Jade hugged back and he spun her around, which made her laugh. I smiled at the two, before Clark set her down and Jade left with Howard.

Clark tried to leave, too, but I grabbed his collar saying,"No. She can do this on her own. Come on, Man of Steel, let her do this.."

I wiped Clark's tears and said,"Hey, it's all a part of the process. It's all a part of the process. She'll be fine, Clark. Superman doesn't have to be right above her to protect her. I know that. He's always been there for me. Always."

I nudged Clark in his side, and he broke into a smile.

He pulled me close and said,"Just know that I will always be one call away."

I smiled, suddenly feeling nostalgic, saying,"I know, Kansas. I know."

That was the exact same thing Clark said to me many years ago when I was feeling insecure before we got together. With Clark by my side, it was too hard for me to forget him. He was unforgettable.
