Melinda's POV

After Frank had held a gun up to Daryl, Joe took immediate hold on the situation. He confiscated Frank's weapons, stripping him of everything that could be trouble in the future. He was then placed under watch in shifts. He could never be unsupervised.

That led me back to Daryl. I was now guided by him, and only him. But as we set up camp that night, he was furious. He didn't speak to the group, or even me for that matter.

But he did change my bandages, and told me to go to sleep, that he would wake me up in a few hours. But while he said it, I didn't take it to literal. So to my surprise, when the sun was barely up and it was his turn to take watch, he woke me up. He grabbed our things. And we both quietly fled away.

Which leads to the exact moment now, where the both of us were pushing branches out of our faces as we sped past every tree.

"Daryl will you slow down?" My feet can barely keep up as he storms through the woods. I'd have to say that all Frank's pulling had made me tolerable to my wobbly knees.

"Daryl?" I question after I get no verbal or physical answer. But he keeps going.

Through the trees I could see a little wooden house. It gave off a cozy aroma with its smallness. Two rocking chairs sit on the front porch, but I didn't have the time to admire them as Daryl charges up the stairs and kicks in the door.

He releases me from his body and I lean against the wall. He quickly walks toward a decomposed walker and stabs it many times in the head, blood splattered on his face and shirt.

"Daryl, stop!" I call out to him. His actions immediately stop as he looks at me. He breathes heavy as his eyes burn holes into my face.

"I can't take this shit anymore." He growls. He grabs the hair atop his head and tugs at the roots. "I mean, I almost died twice yesterday trying to protect yer ass!" He bellows.

"What are you getting at?" I softly add in. "Why are you so mad?" I question. Although I probably shouldn't have.

"I'm mad at ye!" His face is red as he points an angry finger at me. "Why the hell would ye do that?" It takes me a moment to realize that he's talking about the incident with Frank.

"I panicked. I couldn't see you die too." I whisper.

"Who gives a shit about me?" He yells.

"I do." I say confidently. He quickly shakes his head and wipes over his face with his hands.

"I can't take ye anymore." His boots hit hard on the wooden floors as he storms past me.

"Why are you doing this?" I grab his arm before he storms out the house, but he just shakes me off and keeps walking.

"Daryl!" I scream before he can step off the tiny porch. He turns abruptly and storms back over to me.

"What? What do ye want from me?" He screams, the veins in his neck pop out as he breathes hard.

"I know you don't like me, but you can't always run away." I point a finger at his chest and jab him as I say every word.

"Like ye? Ye just don't understand." He turns to walk away again but stops himself and turns back with a pained expression.

"Mel, I love ye!" He screams.

His hands clench as he looks up at me from the bottom step. I walk down the first step but he holds a hand up to stop me.

"Do ye have any idea what it's like to love someone that will never love ye back?" He scoffs. "Because I live like this everyday. I put my ass out on the line to make sure the one I love is safe. To make sure ye have everything ye need. I have to live knowing that everything I do leads no where. And I'm sick and tired of it. I can't keep going on like this, knowing that ye'll never want me like I want ye." He ends in a soft voice. He softly shakes his head and rounds the corner of the house, going into the woods.

Airy sobs finally leave my body as I grip at my chest. I fall onto the step closest to me and place my face in my hands. "But I do love you." I whisper.
