Melinda's POV

You know when you haven't seen someone for a long time how happy you are? Especially if you were really close to them?

How you would run up and hug them and tell them how much you missed them? They would hold you close in their arms and say sweet things?

Well I felt none of that. My father told me that this man died in a car accident three years ago. But yet, he was standing here before me. I only felt anger. Why would they lie to me like that? What did I do for him to leave?

I just stared into his eyes with so much hatred that he looked away. I wasn't listening to the group asking me questions or the hand that was waving in my face.

I finally got the courage to speak. For the first time in three years, I spoke to him.

"You asshole." I growled, not taking my eyes off of him.

"How could you do that to our family?" I snapped. "To me?" I whispered. I didn't expect him to hear my last sentence but by the way his head snapped up after I said it made me think different.

"I didn't have a choice." He said in a low voice. It was no louder than a whisper and I had to strain my ears to hear it.

"You didn't have a choice my ass!" I bellowed. I pushed past the people standing around me and walked up to him. I ignored the look the middle age man next to him gave me as I approached my uncle.

"I cried for the longest time thinking I lost you! That's all Tyler listened to for days! Me crying! And for what? Your stupid little fucking lie!" I screamed in his face. The group was quiet as I ranted on. I shook my head and ran a hand through my tangled blonde hair.

"I'm sorry-" he began.

"No!" I cut him off. "You can't do that! You can't just say your sorry and expect it all to be okay! You deserted us! You deserted me!" I continue. His eyes held pain and sadness but I didn't let that stop me.

"Does dad know about this? What about Shawn and Maggie, or even little Beth?!" I took a step away from him and let this all run through my head. My uncle was standing in front of me, alive!

"Only your dad knows." He whispered. I almost broke down right there. My dad knew that my uncle was alive but he didn't tell me? The most understanding of all his children, and not to mention the oldest. He kept this a secret from me, there had to be a good reason.

"Why?" I ask. The room was silent as I looked at the ground. I could feel his gaze on me but I didn't look up.

"Why what?" He ask. I knew he was avoiding the question but I still carried on, I had to know.

"Why did you leave?" A tear ran down my cheek. He reached up to wipe it away but I slapped his hand away. He didn't answer my question, he just stood there motionless. "Answer me!" I said in a pleading voice.

"This is why I left." He motioned to the building we were in. "My life is all about this place. Why do you think I always brought you here?" he continued. I didn't answer, instead I looked back at my group and they were staring back watching intently at what was happening. Even the guy next to uncle Henry didn't look like he knew what we were talking about.

"I don't know." I answer his question.

"You were like my little lab partner. You loved it here." he smiled while looking around the building.

"That didn't answer my question! Why did you fake your death?!" I ask getting mad once again. He had a look of shock and then his face went blank.

"It doesn't matter." He whispered and then walked down the long hall behind him to an elevator. I stood there shocked until a voice beside me started to speak.
