Melinda's POV
"Hershel, please-" a voice came in light and foggy.
"No! That stupid ass redneck almost got my daughter killed!" I'm guessing that was my father interrupting someone else.
I couldn't open my eyes, couldn't move my body. I could just listen to the conversation going on between the two people. My fingers felt the soft mattress beneath me and the fuzzy blanket draped over my small body. The way their voices echoed, we were inside the house now.
"It wasn't his fault! His injuries are worse than hers! If anything; he was protecting her from that fall!" Ricks light accent seemed distant, but I knew they were close. They were either outside of the door, or inside the room talking quieter than I thought.
Memories of the accident flowed through my brain. Falling down the hill, the arrow through my side, then the pain on the left side of my head. It feels like a train hit me and then I was fed to walkers and somehow lived.
"And to make it worse; that little blonde girl shot her in the side of the head!" My father boomed and that followed with a shush from Rick. I was shot? In the head?!
"They were mistaken by walkers! It could have happened to anyone! I already said I'm sorry! What more do you want?!" Rick snapped. He obviously couldn't do anything so my father stayed silent.
"Like I said; when you find that little girl, I want you gone! And my daughter is staying with me." My father rudely said. I didn't get the beginning of the conversation but obviously my dad wanted them gone and me staying. If it weren't for Maggie, Beth, Patricia, Jimmy, and my family I would go with them. Wait, what am I talking about? I can't let my father force them out! We have a safe place!
"Please, that's suicidal! You can't-" Rick started to talk but my father walked away. I could hear the sound of his old work boots smacking in the hard wood floors.
The door creaked open and I managed to open my eyes. It was Rick. I closed my eyes once more. I could hear him walk to the other side of the bed and sit down. What is he doing?
"He still wants us gone." Rick mumbled. I had to question myself if he was talking to me or not.
"Well that's his damn lose!" Oh. Fuck. No!
"Daryl, would you just calm down?" Rick whispered.
"No, he thinks it's my fucking fault that she got hurt! Well it's not! It's the stupid ass horses!" Daryl growled. Really, he blames our accident on the horse. I can kind of see where he's coming from but really, he has to say it out loud?
Ricks sighed as things fall silent. The bed shifts and that's when I know my nightmares have come true. I'm sharing a bed with Daryl Dixon.
"Has she woken up yet?" Rick changed topics. I guess he's talking about me. Unless there is yet another person in this bed!
"Yeah, she's awake now." Daryl mumbled and I became confused of how sure he was. I'm still, not moving at all, it's like I'm dead.
"How are you so sure?" It's like Rick read my mind by asking that simple question. Daryl sighed and I could feel both their eyes on me.
