Melinda's POV

We ended up having to walk back because someone took the truck they drove. No problem, I've been walking the entire time this all started. Someone had taken my car from my driveway so yeah, that means I had to walk.

We were walking up the huge hill when a gun shot went off, then another and a course of screaming. What the hell? I thought Rick said it was safe!

Rick started to jog up the hill with us following shortly behind. When we got to the top there were walkers everywhere! Yeah, I'm not gonna stay here! It's dangerous!

I started to shoot every walker I saw. They would range from small and fat to tall and skinny. It was like we had a mini Atlanta in this camp.

I ran out of bullets so I grabbed my crossbow and shot a few, until they were all down. There is no way I am sleeping in a tent or in that RV. I need a high place up.

I saw Rick was standing by himself looking at all the bodies with a scared look on his face. I walked up to him slowly.

"Rick, I'm sleeping in that tree over there." I rubbed my face. He looked at me and nodded. "You'll introduce me to people tomorrow?" I ask. He had a small fake smile in his face.

"Yeah, Shane will be happy to see you." he chuckled. I did the same.

"Alright, goodnight Rick," I pulled him in for a hug. "and thank you." I mumbled.

"For what?" he ask

"For letting me stay, but I'll be leaving tomorrow." I tell him. The smile came off his face.

"Wait, what?" He ask.

"Don't argue Rick, you know why I have to leave." I thought about Tyler. I walked over to the tree I told him I would be in and climbed up. I got to a limb that wasn't to high but high enough and tied my stuff down to the next branch.

I laid my head back and listened to the snapping branches and the wind. This is going to be a long night.

I woke up to something hitting my leg, and then my arm, and lastly my head.

"Ow" I groan and sat up, I rub my face and look down to see Daryl looking back up.

"What do you want?" I groan. It's to early in the morning for this!

"Rick told me to wake ye up." he answered and looked around, I guess to make sure no one knew he was talking to me.

"Well, you didn't have to throw fucking rocks!" I said harshly. I started to climb down the tree.

"Well I wasn't coming up there to get yer sorry ass." He said. We started to walk back to camp.

"Still, you could have called my name! You know my name don't you?" I ask. He rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, I know yer name." He mumbled. I chuckle.

"Oh, really? What is it?" I challenge. He looks at me and shakes his head.

"Melinda." He simply said.

"See now that would have woken me up! Try it some time! That's why we have names." I said in a duh tone. He scoffed and walked out the bushes, to the camp. I stepped out and all heads turned.

"Um, hey." I said awkwardly. Rick chuckled.

"Everybody, this is Melinda, she worked on the force with us." He spoke, I looked around until I saw a face that I adored.

"Carl!" He turned his head and looked at me, a smile coming on his face.

"Melinda!" He said shocked and ran up to me. I opened up my arms and he ran into them, hugging me tight. I laughed
