Melinda's POV
Rick looked around at the growing crowd with confusion. His eyebrows were pulled together as he clears his voice and turns back to the stranger.
"Well you can't have our home." He spoke in a strong and authoritative voice.
The man chuckled as he jumps down from the vehicle and closed the door.
"No, see I don't want your home. I want something much more valuable." He shoves his hands in his pockets as he strides to the front of his truck.
"Then what do you want?" A scowl was plastered on Ricks face as he grips the pistol that was in his holster.
"I've been observing you for a while. How long you can go before you have to take a run. Where each member of your group normally goes throughout the day." He takes small steps as he walks back and forth in front the car. He scratches the small beard on his face as he stops as turns to us. "I've also been told a lot about your group."
"Listen, I don't know why you're here, or what you want. But you need to leave." Rick takes a step forward and unholsters his gun, keeping it by his side.
"You haven't even heard the best part yet." The man smiles. "See, what I want is one of your people. They are going to come in very useful later in life."
My thoughts switched to my family. He could want Beth, Maggie, daddy. And there was no telling what this man could do to them. We had never met him and he already knows our life story. What we do everyday, where we go.
I turn my head to look at Maggie. A scared look was stretched across her face as she eyes the man.
"Maggie!" I whisper. Her tear filled eyes look at me as she nods. "Get everyone in the house. Now."
Without arguing she grabs Beth's shoulder and ushers her to the door. Dad soon followed with his hand on her back.
I turn back to the stranger to find that he's already looking at me. His eyes held mystery and evil within their color. His wicked smile glistened with lies.
I want to move, speak, hide. Anything to get away from his thought filled stare. But I keep my strong stance as I tighten my grip on my weapon.
"There's a girl I want. Blonde hair, blue eyes." He looks back to Rick. "Just hand her over and I'll be in my way. You'll never see me again."
The first thing I thought of was Charlie. Her blonde hair bounced in my mind as her eyes shined with excitement. Then it flipped to images of her tiny body being held in his arms. I shook my head and took a few steps to the man.
"You're not taking my kid anywhere. You best get the hell off my property before you get an arrow between the eyes!" I threaten. My breathing was rugged as the man laughs.
"Honey, I don't want the brat." My eyebrows pull together in confusion as he motions for someone to come out of the truck. The door creaks as it slowly opens, and a pair of boots hit the ground. The door slams, shaking the whole truck. The man walks forward with his head down and a note book in his hands.
Once he lifts his head my mouth drops. The weapon in my hands lowers to my side and my body relaxes. His glasses were pushed up on the bridge of his nose like I had remembered. A scowl was there in place of a smile. And his body language shown madness. Like the world changed him completely since last seen.
"Uncle Henry?" My voice comes out as a whisper as I stare at the man in shock. "I thought that you- No you did! You died! You're dead! Why- why are you standing there?" My brain was racing as I take in his body. There wasn't a scratch on him, no signs of him ever being in an explosion.
"I obviously didn't die that day!" He rolls his eyes. He takes out his notebook and starts flipping through pages.
"But I watched you die." I say in astonishment. He slams the book closed as he looks up with raging eyes.
"Do you seriously think I'm stupid? There's more than one fucking exit!" He booms.
"What about Jenner?" Rick cuts in. He stand by me and crosses his arms over his chest as he waits on Henry's answer.
"He was weak." He says simply. I lower my head once I put the pieces together. He didn't want to go out into this world, so he took the easy way out. He stayed in that building.
"Now that we have that lovely story out there! Let's get back on task, shall we?" The Governor claps his hands together to get our attention, but my eyes stay glued to my uncle.
"Why do you want our people?" Rick ask.
"I can't tell you all of it at once. It ruins the fun." His voice was full of evil as he speaks the crazy words. "All you need to know right now is I want Melinda. And I won't leave until you hand her over." My eyes drift from my uncle to the governor to see him pointing a finger my way.
