Chapter 46

"How you holding up?" Cam whispered to me as the teacher took attendance.

Austin had left earlier that morning to LA and you can say that I was an emotional wreck.

"Eh." I scribbled on my homework. "It's tough."

"You'll get through it," he patted my back. "He'll be back before you know it."

"Do you believe in fate Cam? Or destiny?" I quietly whispered.

"Of course I do, why?"

"Just wondering. Do you think that if two people really care for each other but are far apart, they'll eventually find their way back?" I asked before the teacher started class.

"Okay students, get out last nights homework and correct it with red pens!" She cleared her throat as she passed out pens.

"You guys will find your way back, trust me." Cam quietly whispered.

"Are you excited for tonight's game?" Ethan came up to my locker.

"Mmm yeah." I forced a smile.

"Hey what's wrong?" Ethan noticed my painful and fake smile.

"Nothing. It's just Austin left this morning and I just feel like crap." I mumbled as he pulled me into his chest.

"Hey it's going to be okay." He smoothed out my hair.

"Can we get out of here?" I felt my eyes getting watery. "I don't really want to be here."

"Yeah sure, let's go to my car." Ethan grabbed my hand and lead us to his car.

"Geez I probably look so gross right now." I chuckled as I wiped my eyes.

"You still look pretty as ever." He gave me a soft smile.

For awhile we just sat in his car, in silence. But good silence.

"Hey do you want to go to the beach?" Ethan spoke up after a few seconds.

"Yeah I'd like that." I smiled and put on my seatbelt as he started the car.

"It's probably my favorite place to go to just clear my head." The car came to a halt. "Come on, let's go."

We both hopped off the car and walked on the sand, getting closer to the water. He sat down first and I followed.

"I'm surprised there's no one here." Ethan chuckled.

"Well it is like 8 am ya know." I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Oh yeah, I forgot." He laughed.

"This feels good." The wind started to pick up a bit but not a lot.

"Take a nap, it'll help." Ethan suggested.

I rested my head on his lap and his hands went straight to my hair, making the sleeping process happen faster.

"Goodnight gorgeous." He whispered as I fell in a deep sleep.
