Chapter 55

"You folks were gone an awfully long time." Zach smirked as Austin and I made our way inside.

"Well there was a lot to talk about." I sat down on the couch and Austin followed.

"And?" Rizzy questioned.

"And what?" I laughed. I was so not going to tell them.

"What did you guys agree or talk about?" She said impatiently.

"That's between us, not the whole gang." Austin nodded his head, agreeing to what I had said.

"Fine! But we'll get it out of you two sooner or later." Ashley playfully rolled her eyes at us.

"Alright! On a different note, can we get to grilling cause I am starved!" We all stood up and headed outside to the grill to get our little feast started.

Monday rolled around sooner than I had expected and I wasn't so thrilled.
Ethan was away for the weekend with his family and today was the first time I was seeing him after I had made up with Austin. To be honest, I was a nervous wreck. I don't like to hurt other people's feeling so breaking the news to Ethan was going to be tough.

I pulled up to Ethan's house that morning to take him to school. His car was at the mechanics and until he got it fixed, I drove him but it didn't bother me.

I rang the doorbell and seconds later his mom answered the door.

"Good morning Katherine, it's so great to see you!" His mom pulled me in for a hug.

"Morning Mrs. Stone." I hugged her back.

"Come on in! Ethan will be down in a few." We sat down on the couches while I waited for him.

"So how was your weekend?" I asked politely.

"It wasn't all that fun. I stayed in all weekend with my husband but if it were up to me, I'd be at a club." She joked around. "How was yours?"

"Um it was good. I hung out with some friends that I hadn't talked in a while so it was good." I smiled.

"Oh really? I thought you were with Ethan all weekend long?" Mrs. Stone looked confused.

"What do you mean ma'am? He told me that you guys went away for the weekend?" Now I was confused.

"No no honey. We were here all weekend long. Oh dear I'm-" She started but was cut off when Ethan came jogging down the stairs.

"Morning babe." He placed a kiss on my forehead. "Ready to go?"

"Uh um yeah. Mrs. Stone it was lovely talking to you." I managed to spit out. I was in shock. Why did Ethan lie to me and his parents? Did Ethan cheat on me?

"You too darling, take care of yourself." She kissed my cheek. "I'm so sorry." She whispered into my ear before we went out to my car.

"So how was your weekend?" He placed his hand on my thigh as I drove.

"Um it was good, I hung out with my friends." I spoke above a whisper.

"You know I really missed you this weekend." He squeezed my thigh.

I pushed down on the brakes as I approached a stop sign. "Me too." I managed to look at him and force a smile.

We reached the school in a matter of minutes. As soon as I turned off the engine, I hopped off my car and opened the rear doors to get my books and backpack.

"You ready?" Ethan came up behind me and placed his hands around my waist. I tried my best to put a poker face on, I wanted to talk to Ethan when the time was right but not now.

I turned around to face him. "Ready."

"Hey you okay? You seem kind of distant?" He asked.

Nah, I just have a feeling that you've been cheating on me. The voices in my head told me.
"Me? I'm fine. I'm just sort of tired, I went to sleep late last night." I lied.

"We're good?" He leaned down towards my face.

"Good." I whispered.

"Good." He said before he leaned down and kissed me.

"Why so glum chum?" Cam asked as he walked into the classroom.

"Eh it's nothing." I lied. I didn't want to tell Cam or anyone because I didn't want Austin to find out. "Ugh I hate this class so much." I changed the subject.

"Me too. Hey by the way." He pulled out a piece of paper and a pencil. "Do you have-"

Before he could finish, I pulled out Friday's homework. "I gotchu."

"You're the best Kat." He chuckled as he quickly copied my work.
