A week passed by and I was hating this place, or Nancy. She kept on hinting horrible things about me. It made me feel self conscious. I did work every day despite my dislike for Nancy and that was only for Henry. He wasn't bad to me, just quiet.

The staff was nice to talk to making the times when I didn't work the down part of my day. I wish I was allowed to work at the register or the front desk but I was forbidden because the whole people looking for me thing.

Another perk gained by being her was he unlimited hot water. I spent a lot of time in the shower just letting it all beat down on me. In the shower I didn't have to think, I just let all my troubles and worries get dragged down the drain. I wish I could stay in there forever but I have to get out and face the reality once again.

I've decided that I can't live like this forever. I am a human and I have my own life! I can't just be dragged around from place to place regarded like a burden. I wanted to go to college and shit. My life is literally meaningless besides just fucking living. I dressed myself to get ready for work with new found purpose. Today I was going to make a run for it and then borrow someone's phone.

I walked out of my room and went down to the laundry room with the other women. I said hello to them and started working on folding all the sheets and towels. I did it as fast as i could then went out to the manager and offered to take out the trash. She thought nothing of it since it was just in the back. I nearly started dancing with joy as I went to go get the bags. I took as much as I could carry and went outside. I tossed it in the dumpster and looked back at the hotel one final time before dashing across the grass. I crossed the street and turned left quickly so that they could no longer see me if they looked out the window.

I didn't stop running till I was on a main road with a gas station in sight. I walked inside and to the clerk with a smile on my face. "Hello, can I please use your phone? It's an emergency." I asked.

"Sure, not a problem." She said handing me a home phone. I dialed Amber's number and waited counting the rings.

"Hello?" She asked.

"Amber! Oh my god! Thank you so much for answering the phone! Look, I'm stranded and I need you to come pick me up please! Can you do that?" I asked.

"Oh shit Athena? You ran away? Shit, yeah I can come get you. Where you at?" She asked.

"I'm in Louisville. At a BP gas station on Main street."

"Holy shit that's fucking two hours away!"

"I know I'm so sorry but I really need you to come get me please!" I stressed.

"Alright, alright I'm coming. Stay put until I come there and lay low alright?"

"Okay, I'll be waiting goodbye!" I said then hung up and handed the phone to the cashier. I said a quick thank you and headed to their bathroom. It was one of those with stalls so I just sat on the toilet lid and waited. I would go out and check the time every now and then quickly before going back. I knew it was strange but I wasn't going to wait outside. At long last I went to go check the time and caught sight of Amber. "Come on let's go!" I whispered screamed fast walking out the door towards her car.

She unlocked it with the beeper as I touched the door. I quickly got in and buckled up. Amber got in and did the same before pulling out. Once we were several streets away I blew out a harsh breath.

"Fuck, has it been that bad?" She asked.

"Ugh, I felt like I was an unwanted burden! He hasn't even really talked to me and the person he left me with after Granny! She was a total bitch! I have no way to entertain myself besides doing work or watching T.V. I hate watching T.V! I would rather read, draw, sew or something!" I ranted.
