He's someone that you knew before,
One of your old friends.
Someone to be trusted
To keep your secrets till the end.

He will always carry you home
On shoulders of darkness and love.
He'll travel with you at the end
From earth life to above.

He'll comfort you when you realize
How many you left behind,
And remind you just how many
Are waiting for you at the finish line.

They'll welcome you with open arms,
And turn to your companion and say
"Do you know who this is
Who walked with you this way?"

"This is your old friend Death.
He's been waiting for you for a while.
He's been waiting a very, very long time
Just to see you smile."
