"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
       - Romeo and Juliet

I beg to disagree.
If I tore it piece by piece
To dissect it's pedigree

I would find out the importance
Of just such a name.
And make it clear the absurdity
Of any other claim.

Would you prefer to live
In a hovel or a home
If they were the same thing?
It's best to leave the names alone.

I'd rather be an employee
Than to be someone's slave.
If the words were switched around
Would we want it the other way?

Words hold something very dear
To our frail hearts.
Would a rose really smell as sweet
If from its name it would part?

If such a tragedy did occur
My heart could not take the pain.
And I would never speak again;
Words would not be the same.
