December 24th

Christmas Eve. Shoppers were packed at the hypermarket and malls, busy doing their last minute Christmas shopping.
Jin Hyuk was reluctant when i told him i applied for two weeks of leave and decided to go back to my hometown.
"Alone?" He asked,"On Christmas?"
"Im giving you sometime to rest, my friend. You've been busy lately, because of me," i said to him,"Besides, you can spend your Christmas with your family."
"I was thinking of bringing you over. My parents had been asking for you. They havent met you for quite a long time," Jin Hyuk said,"Are you sure you want to go back to your hometown? Im not forcing you though."
"Yes. Im coming back after two weeks," i said to him.
"But i'll be going back to the UK," he said,"I wont be coming back until end of next year."
"Oh," that was all i could managed. I appreciate what he had done for me but if he leaves..
"You want to come with me? To the UK? You can start a whole new life there," he suggested,"With me."
"Jin Hyuk, please. I dont want to be a burden for you. Especially, with my current condition now. And i cant thank you enough for everything that you've done but, please dont be sympathetic towards me," i said to me.
"Im not! Really," he said quickly,"You misunderstood me. Im not being sympathetic, im just- I love you, Hyo Rin. What had happened to you, i dont care and i dont give a damn about it. Who am i to judge you? Im not God. I know you're worried about the perception of the society for carrying an illegitimate unborn child but screw them. They dont go through what you've been through and they dont know how you feel! But, at least give yourself a chance. I'll wait for you until you get back. Okay?"
I hugged him, and i knew he just wanted me to be happy,"Okay."
"Take care of yourself. Promise me that you'll eat. Eat as much as you can," he said to me, as he walked me to the bus.
"And grow fat?"
"You're not eating for one anymore, silly. Even if you grow twice the size as i am, im not going to leave you," he said again.
He kissed my cheeks and watched me climbed aboard the bus. I waved him goodbye and i expected him to leave immediately, but no. He waited until the bus were out of sight.
I had no problem with society's perception about me for carrying an illegitimate unborn child but how the society would accept my child was what im worried of. Lying to my child when he asked about his father would be another problem. But Jin Hyuk, so far, had proven to me that he was wiling, to be my child's father even though its not his. Wasnt that unfair for him?
Perhaps Jin Hyuk was right. The previous chapter of my life should be closed and it was time to start a new chapter. Drifted into an uneasy sleep, i let my dreams carried me away until i finally reached my destination.
After 8 hours of bus ride, my back and my butt felt numb when i got off the bus. Every thing else was covered in snow and i hired a taxi to take me to my house.
I sent a quick text message to Jin Hyuk, telling him that i had just arrived safely. And he replied me with his usual reminder. Rest, eat and relax.
I smiled to myself, as i was planning on doing that throughout my two weeks of holiday.
Upon arriving, as soon as i saw the state of my house, i never knew that i had a messy looking lawn and backyard. Even the house was dusty. If i were to stay here for the next two weeks, i need to do some major cleaning. That morning, i made a visit to a nearby retail store and bought a few essential items and not to mention plenty of food. From cooking ingredients, to snacks and biscuits, to several types of fast food. Should be okay, i thought to myself. Even though i felt guilty, I had promised Jin Hyuk earlier to lessen my intake of fast foods but they're quick and less hassle to prepare. That was why it was called fast food. I was just merely preparing for what to eat at night in front of the tv.
My consciousness scoffed at me.
I got home and started to clean the house. Every corner from the attic down to the cellar, were dust free and there were no more spider webs across the ceiling. I wanted to rearranged the furniture but i stopped myself. I may not feel tired but my body does. My arms and my legs felt sore.
When my phone rang, i smiled upon seeing Jin Hyuk's number flashed across the screen.
"Hello, Mr. Choi, how can i help you?" I answered the phone with a giggle.
"Why, hello, Miss Kim. I was hoping that you could tell me have you eaten your dinner yet?" He asked, and i could sense that he was smiling at the other side.
Dinner? I looked at the time and it was 8.30p.m. I didnt realised that i had spent the entire day cleaning the house.
"Yes, i did, Mr. Choi," i lied smoothly,"I made some mashed potatoes with stir fry chicken breast meat."
My mouth watered and i knew what i would want to have for dinner later on.
"Sounds delicious," he said.
"It tastes better than it sounds, trust me," i said with a smile,"Are you at home?"
"No, im at my parents' place. Home isnt the same without you, Hyo Rin," he said,"I miss you."
"Did your mom nagged you?" I asked, even though i knew that she would.
"Nonstop. She scolded me for letting you go off alone to your hometown. She send her regards to you, by the way," Jin Hyuk said fondly,"She misses you."
I laughed,"I miss her too."
"By the way, Ye Jin sent me two invitations to her wedding next weekend. For us. Im suppose to RSVP by tomorrow night. Do you want to go?" Jin Hyuk asked cautiously.
Silence fell.
Should i go? No. I know that i need to move on but attending his wedding, definitely not a good idea.
"No. I wont be going," i told Jin Hyuk.
"Okay, i'll tell her," he said,"I have to go now. But you can give me a call or text me if you're bored."
He laughed,"I think i will. Take care, Hyo Rin. Remember to call me if there's anything, alright?"
We bid each other goodnight and that moment, loneliness came over me. I looked around the living room, and after for so many years, i was beginning to miss my parents and my brother.
