January 6th, morning

I woke up to a smell of freshly baked buns and coffee and when i entered the kitchen, Jin Hyuk looked busy and he was surprised to see me.
"You're up early," he said to me.
I realised that he was still wearing the same clothing that he wore last night and there were dark circles under his eyes.
"I thought you spent the night at your parents' place," i said as i sat down.
"I did," he said.
"But you looked like you didnt even sleep," i said,"What did you do last night?"
Jin Hyuk looked slightly uncomfortable and both of us were distracted by a ping coming from the oven which we never used before. He bent over and when he emerged, he was holding a tray of freshly baked buns.
Placing it on the counter, i gaped at what he had just prepared. So, i said,"You just made some buns."
"Yup," he replied confidently.
"For breakfast," i added.
"Yes, i just did," Jin Hyuk looked far more excited than i was.
Jin Hyuk, his kitchen skills, including baking and cooking were just hopeless for the last few years of knowing him. It was i who always do the cooking and i rarely bake.
"This looks great," i said, and it does smells great. My stomach let out a loud grumble, indicating that i need to taste those buns.
"Not, just yet," Jin Hyuk slapped my hand when i tried to reach for one,"Its hot."
"Wash your face," he said, shooed me to the bathroom,"You've been salivating again in your sleep."
"But-"
"Later, i'll cut them out for you," he insisted and i went to the bathroom. Washing my face thoroughly, i was amused with what i just witnessed. Choi Jin Hyuk, baking.
When i returned, two buns were ready for me on a plate and Jin Hyuk watched me intently as i made my first bite.
"Well?" He asked, apparently looking desperate for my comment.
It was delicious! The fillings were just fantastic. It tasted like chicken pie but in a bun. But i made my face, pretending the opposite and Jin Hyuk wanted to have  taste, reaching out to take my second bun in the plate, i slapped his hand and said,"Mine."
Jin Hyuk laughed, shaking his head in disbelief and said,"You got me, okay?"
I smiled slyly and ate my bun, feeling rather content and he served some coffee for the both of us.
"You were hopeless when it comes to baking, and cooking," i said to him,"You almost burn down the house the last time you tried to cook."
"That, was last time. Now, its different," his reply was and strangely, Kim Jong Kook had said the same thing to me last night during our picnic.
How Kim Jong Kook looked at me when he released his three balloons which his notes were tied on was an unforgettable one.
All these while, i thought that i was the only one who felt the pain more but from the look of his eyes, he had been suffering too, but far worst than i expected.
"Hyo Rin?" Jin Hyuk's soft voice pulled me back to where i was at.
"Last night, you didnt even get a wink of sleep just to learn on making buns?" I asked immediately,"Including your mother?"
"Nah, i had the entire kitchen to myself," Jin Hyuk replied,"Plus, i didnt want her to help me out on this one. She just lend me her recipe book and my first few attempts were-"
"Disastrous," i said, smiling.
"You can say that," Jin Hyuk said, embarrassed,"But thank heavens, it turned out well during my last few tries. Mom and dad was amazed. My sister and my brother were, well, you know them. They couldnt stop teasing me."
"Yeah, who wouldve thought, Dr. Choi Jin Hyuk just made some buns for breakfast," i teased him,"Seems like i can trust my life in your hands if something happen to me one day. A surgeon who make-"
"Im not going to let that happen," he interjected and from the tone of his voice, he was serious.
"I wont let anything happen to you. Even if it takes my life away, i wont let anything, happen to you," he added.
Our eyes met momentarily and Jin Hyuk was the first one who broke the eye contact. He sat down next to me and what he was about to show next was something that i wasnt expecting, not this early at least.
A flight ticket to Heathrow Airport, with my name on it.
"Hyo Rin, i know this is a bit too much to take. I just want to tell you that, whatever decision that you're going to make, i respect it. Im not forcing you to accept or to reject because now, it is time for you to start thinking of life ahead of you. Honestly, im hoping that you'll come with me. And we can start a whole new life together. But, this decision yours to make, i cant make it on my own," Jin Hyuk said and the date written on the ticket was January 9th.
3 days from now.
Just like how he always do, he left, went back to his bedroom as he knew that i needed sometime to think.
I had completely forgotten all about it. He did offered me to come to the UK with him but for the last few days, my mood shifted tremendously.
I was happy with Jin Hyuk and i was happy with Kim Jong Kook a well.
The buns had gotten cold on the counter and i placed them back into the oven. Cleared the counter and i could hear my mind buzzing in my ears. I took the ticket back to my room and placed it in front of me on my bed.
Jin Hyuk's bedroom door was slightly opened and i peered in, he was asleep. Snoring.
I was touched by his perseverance in learning new things out of his league just to make me happy.
At that moment, i knew who i had to choose.
Grandpa.
