King Laurent
[Day 23, November 15th]

Unintentional Sarcasm

My twin and I walked into the extravagant dining room area before the women were escorted in and we each took a seat at the opposite ends of the custom made table of fifty.

We both decided to wear tuxedoes for the occasion just to give the image that we tried to a certain degree. I rolled my eyes as Larry placed a gold embroidered handkerchief upon his lap, I hated dressing so damn formally and so did my twin but he handled it far better than I. Whilst preferring to dressing casual, having to wear this atrocity made me even more irritable. I sighed ruefully as I spanned the silver spoon from the set with my fingertips.

King Larry: " Mon frere, if you keep this attitude up, the women will think you don't like them.", Larry mocked, his voice tinged with just a slight bit of chiding.

King Laurent: "I don't. Why should I pretend to? I never been good at being fake, even for the kingdom. I would much rather be looking for Jessica.", I could hear my twins exasperated sigh at the petulant tone.

King Larry: "I am sorry that you can't join the search for Jess but this is something YOU agreed to my brother and must see through.", he gazed at me with determination set in his soft jawline then suddenly, he heaved a sigh. "It matters not anyway. You saw Candice and Melissa in the crowd. They'll know how to answer the questions right and the other women won't have a chance. It's a pity really, I saw some gorgeous creatures in that crowd.", I only half listened to my twin, nodding my head to his words. Although, I suppose he was right since after all, who would be able to answer the questions better other than our very own lovers?

[Day 23, November 15th]

When all the other girls left out the dressing room decked out from head to toe, I had stayed back to help with the clean up of the destroyed dressing room. I went across the wide area, bending over every few steps to pick up the scattered clothing. I just couldn't let them lay on the floor like that. I knew there was probably servants to clean up but it just didn't seem right to make them clean up after grown adults.

As I was picking up a sheer white Givenchy dress, I felt my hand being grabbed by a pair of the softest hands.
I looked up from my spot on the floor to stare into the eyes of a small woman child. She looked to be around 16 with golden tresses that fell down her back. Her eyes a light grey with emerald flecks in them. She was dressed in the servants garb of a grey dress with black ruffles on the sleeves and the hem.
I felt myself blush at her beauty, not quite understanding how this angel could be a servant. She pointed to the clothes in my arms and held her own arms out as though to take them.

Jasmine: "I don't mind you know, I can help you.", She shook her head vehemently, seemingly distressed. She just softly grabbed the clothes and placed them on a cart she had brought in. She gestured towards the door where the girls left out, signaling for me to leave.

Jasmine: "I really don't mind helping. There's so much clothes thrown everywhere, it will take you forever on your own.", She smiled, a barely noticeable gap in between her beautiful teeth. She shook her head again and softly pushed me towards the doors. I asked her name, and she just shrugged. I was confused until something hit me.

Jasmine: "are you .... Perhaps mute?",
She shook her head yes and my heart clenched. She reminded me of my younger sister Selena and I felt tears well up in my eyes. Unafraid of my reaction, she wiped them away gently than put her hand up, showing me she wanted me to wait. She ran to the back of the room, grabbing a quill shaped pen and a journal that had a green leaf splatter pattern on its binding. She came back and handed a sheet of paper from it to me with writing already on it.

Sophia: "I am Sophia.", It was written a bit sloppily as though a child wrote it and I couldn't help but to smile.

Jasmine: "It's nice to meet you Sophia, I'm Jasmine.", She curtsied to me with a pleased look then pushed me again towards the doors. I laughed softly, conceding to the girl and left the room. I walked back into the waiting area and noticed it was empty.

Jasmine: "Shit, they must've already made it to the dining room.", I muttered under my breath until I heard one guard cough and when I looked behind me at him, he pointed to the double doors on the opposite side. With a smile of appreciation, I ran towards rust brown doors and entered the room. Geez, I was always late, that couldn't be a good look.

As I rushed inside the dining room, I skidded to a stop and noticed that everyone was looking at me with bewildered gazes. I blushed as I walked with my head slightly down. I heard snickers and jabs from other girls. I could see the King with the short twists laughing into his napkin, while the other King seemed annoyed. Hmph, guess he wasn't used to being made to wait, not like it was really my fault...

[Day 23, November 15th]

I was becoming even more impatient and highly annoyed with each passing second. There was a girl missing from the group and the absence was holding up dinner. Eleni, one of our closest advisors said we couldn't start until all showed up and were present. I was just about to start anyway when the doors opened and the girl kind of skidded to a stop. I'm guessing she had been running. I recognized her as the hostile one from earlier. She blushed and hung her head just a little due to the laughing and insults from the other ones.

I didn't like such degrading behavior and it pissed me off that my twin seemed to be laughing as well. I looked at her attire and found it plain yet fitting for her. I actually preferred this over that see through foolishness Candice was wearing. Where the hell was her self respect?

King Laurent: "I'm glad you finally decided to join us. What is your name and why are you so late compared to the others who were on time?", I addressed the woman and she stared at me, her hazelnut eyes swirling with anger. The audacity, she was late, not I.

Jasmine: "My name is Jasmine and I was late cause I was helping pick up the clothes your on time crowd here discarded upon the floor with reckless abandon.", I could hear the irritation practically dripping from every word she said and I felt amusement rise up in me. Tonight might be far more entertaining than I had previously believed. So, I decided at that moment to test her own patience as I let irritation drop from my very own voice as well.

King Laurent: "I have servants who take care of that miss Jasmine. Are you a servant? If so, you may return to work. If not, I prefer you do what you actually came here to do.", I chided but instead of annoyance, her eyes held confusion for a split second and her head tilted to the side just slightly.

Jasmine: "And what would that be?  To grovel at your feet and beg for you to bless me with your shallow love? To allow me to lay on your bedside? I have no intentions of that, Your Majesty.", She added the last words with complete utter disrespect and sarcasm. The room went silent as I stared at the woman in disbelief. The fierce anger on Larry's features informed me of my twin's now urge to have the guards escort her out. I held my hand up with the palm raised to him, stopping his actions, now completely interested in her.

What did I just do?! I didn't mean to sound that way with him, I had only went blank for a minute from my anger at his disregard of a servants work and his arrogance. I couldn't stop the sarcasm that fluttered past my lips and so I watched as the others looked on in horror, Candice and Melissa laughing to each other with jeers from the hushed whispers. The short twists King looked livid, his hands were clutched at his side and he looked all to ready to have me thrown out. I watched as the other King stopped him though and then asked me a question I suddenly had no real answer for.

King Laurent: "So why are you here?", he questioned with a burning curiosity in his dark depths. I inhaled a deep breath and decided that here goes nothing.

Jasmine: "I wanted to ask for a boat to go to London. It was never my intention to get sucked into this Court Game.", The King looked at me with a peculiar look setting on his features and then he laughed, heartily.
