Liara
( Day 75, January 5th )I avoided the probing glances and curious stares as I made my way through the dusk lit roads of Parisih, my mind in a constant battle with my heart. Three days ago I told Jasmine of my pregnancy and for three days, she kept my secret from everyone, including Laurent despite how strained things had been because of my words before. I knew that it was killing her knowing that the child I now carried half belonged to a man whom nearly beat her to death and chained her up like a wild animal yet she still checked on me every morning, asking if I needed anything. For days, I had wondered why I had been so emotional and why I had these weird cravings but just chalked it up to the stress that had taken over all our lives while Laurent and Larry had been searching for Jasmine, forgetting the mistake I made with Hiroshi the night of the Festival of Life. But when the morning sickness hit me one morning, that's when I knew and took the test only for it to confirm my worst fears.
"Good morning miss Liara."
A random townsman said as he passed me by on his way to work and I forced a smile and a hello back, swallowing down the sudden torrent of dizziness that was determined to overtake me. Regaining control, I resumed my trek through the streets. The closer I got to my destination, the slower my strode became. Could I really do this? Inhaling a deep breath, I stepped into the freezing building, an immediate trail of goosebumps running along my back and arms. The room was dimly lit with a few sparse chairs as its only furniture against the white dingy colored wall in the otherwise barren room.Steeling my resolve, I walked up to the woman behind the plexiglass that had holes in a circular that served as a way to speak with the seemingly uninterested and bored secretary. Clearing my throat to get her attention, she simply popped her gum and begin typing on her out of date grey laptop.
Secretary: "Name?" Still popping her gum, she asked the question and I felt my nerves catch fire.Liara: "Arali Bee, I have an appointment." I told the secretary my alias, annoyed even more at how she rolled her eyes as though me answering her question was time consuming and irritating. She typed away, the clicking sound loud in the empty room and finally a buzzer sound rang out, making me jump a bit.
Secretary: "You can go in now, the doctor is waiting for you. Please bring the signed waivers in with you." Her dull tone lingered and I fingered the folded paper in my back pocket, the sound of it crinkling damning my soul even more. I took another deep breath, opening and closing my eyes, then walked inside the room. No turning back.
Jasmine
( Day 76, January 6th )Knocking for the fifth time, I started to worry when Liara still wouldn't answer. Sophia was leaving tonight and Laurent wanted everyone at dinner to say our goodbyes but I hadn't seen Liara since yesterday. I remembered her ambling in the hallways with a distraught and soulless look in her eyes. I had tried to call out to her but she just kept waking until she got to her room, where she stayed all night and all day today. Finally giving up, I went to back to Laurents and mine room, hoping Liara was okay. The bathroom door opened and Laurent stepped out in nothing but a towel, a delicious and far to distracting sight. When his gaze landed on me, a smile split his lips.
King Laurent: "Hey baby, why you look so worried?" He questioned and for a second, I couldn't remember why when his accent drifted by my eardrums and teased me.
Jasmine: "Huh?" I replied, now lost in the chocolate swirls that were his eyes.
King Laurent: "Close your mouth Jasmine, unless you plan on using it."
The smirk that accompanied his sentence was deceiving and he tried to confuse me but I caught his meaning and rolled my eyes.
Jasmine: "Damn pervert! Can't never have a regular conversation with you." I glared at him and a cheeky smile tugged at his lips.
King Laurent: "I mean I was being serious though. We got some time before dinner."
Before I could answer him, I was snatched into his arms and Laurent leaned down to kiss me, effectively erasing all thoughts other than him away. Sliding the straps of my sundress down, Laurent pushed us onto the bed and I forgot anything else as Laurent trailed hot kisses down my body, stopping at the apex of my thighs. He blew in between and my back arched up, the coolness of the air and the heat of his breath colliding, causing a wetness to pool.
King Laurent: "Mmm, just a little dessert before dinner..."I pushed the dining room doors open slightly, peeking inside to see everyone sitting at the table already with a thunderous expression on Larrys face.
King Laurent: "Go Jasmine!"
Laurent hissed at me, a shit eating grin still plastered on his face. I smacked his arm and mumbled for him to go first.
Jasmine: "It's your fault we're late! How come I gotta go in first?!"
I argued back, not wanting to be the scapegoat. After about five minutes of arguing, the doors jerked open and I fell on my ass, pain shooting up my spine.
Jasmine: "Ow!"
I cried out as Laurents laughter boomed. Getting ready to curse out whoever was responsible for my hurt. Staring up, I went silent as I looked in Larry eyes, which were fuming. A nervous giggle erupted from me as I smiled.
Jasmine: "Oh...hi bro..haha..we were just on our way inside."
Rolling his eyes, Larry helped me off the floor and pinned me and Laurent down with a disbelieving glare.King Larry: "How the hell, are the knees who planned the dinner the last guests to appear?! Two hours late?!"
Larry yelled and another nervous laugh left me. Laurent just smirked and shrugged his shoulders. Taking a calming breath, Larry held his hand up and shook his head.
King Larry: "Never mind, I don't want to know. Let's just finally start dinner please."
Opting to just follow and not anger the King anymore, Laurent and I made our ways to our seats and Sophia blessed me with a mega watt bright smile. It was going to be lonely without her. Spotting Liara, all my previous worried came rushing back as I saw the red puffiness of her eyes. What happened?
I didn't have time to ask because dinner took off as drinks, food and goodbyes were shared. Jokes were made and stories told about the castle childhood of Sophia and how Laurent and Larry spent so much time with her in her earlier years.I was so entranced with a story that Lidia was sharing about the Kings being trapped in a tree and crying because they were scared to climb down when I saw Liara sipping on champagne. Before I could stop myself, I yelled at her to stop, causing everyone else in the room to go quiet and stare at me.
Jasmine: "Sorry..I just don't think Liara should be drinking liquor is all.."
Not knowing how else to deal with the curious gazes, Liara downed the glass and made herself another.
Liara: "No need to worry dear "sister", she said with a mean sarcasm in the words. "I had an abortion, so mind your own business."
