I stared at the throne of which I formerly used to rule with my husband. Memories flitted across my mind, bringing a wistful wrinkled smile to my face. How long has it been since I relinquished the throne to my sons? I had no regrets, they ruled beautifully even though it took a bit of trial and error. A shiver ran through my body as I remembered Laurent in the first years of his ruling. He had become untrusting after the incident at the farm that brought the chosen mute child to us, clouding his judgement for a time. He ruled with an brutal iron fist and the island feared him, hell even I feared him at a time. But the birth of his niece had softened him up a bit and Larry taking on more responsibilities helped. It took only a short time for Laurent to rule with love instead of fear, although fear still lingered whenever the people would catch a glimpse of the Beast.

The door to the throne room opened and I easily slipped into the coveted seat, awaiting my company. One by one, the remaining three advisors stepped into the room with Liara and Sophia trailing behind them. But my gaze was reserved for one and one only, the former advisor brought forth in shackles. Eleni glanced around the room for a quick second with terror in her eyes that she pushed back behind a mask of stoic but I saw that fear and I relished in it. Liara and Sophia took their places at my side and castle guards, including Bouboo, surrounded the advisors. I cradled my chin in the palm of my hand and stared unrelenting at the four.

Lidia: "So, I hear a conspiracy is in place within the court of Advisors. A little bird spoke to me and said that you wished to overthrow me in place of my sons while they were away. Care to elaborate?" My voice was calm but a frost undertone could be detected. I watched as the advisors squirmed underneath my gaze and I could feel Liara excitement in the air like an electric undercurrent. She would see by the end of the day why I once was called Frost Queen. The first to speak was Regi.

Regi: "That had nothing to do with us your Highness! Eleni came to us with the idea, throwing at us that it was time for the Advisors to rule since we did all the work anyways." I could feel my vision zero in on said woman, my eyes narrowing to thin slits. She didn't squirm or look down in submission like other three. A smile cracked my features again, I liked stubborn prey. It made stomping out their life so much more satisfying.

The other two advisors, Shaun and Laura voiced the same statement as Regi, claiming they had nothing to do with Eleni's greedy wants. I stared down at the woman and she relentlessly stared back. Then she spoke, her words calm and calculating.

Eleni: "I may have been the only one who said it out loud but I'm surely not the only one who thought it. The other three hide behind their curtails and are afraid of confrontation but I am not. The plan for Advisors to take over had been set in motion even before you and King Leo took the throne. Do you not know the true reason behind your husbands assassination?" Something akin to pure evil spread up like flames on crack through my veins. Liara's body went tense and instead of excitement sparking around her, now was burning with with murder. I could see the widened eyes of the other advisors and how I could feel the truth in her words, so despite myself I asked her to continue.

Eleni: "It has long since been written in the books that Advisors would one day take the place of Kings and Queens. In the Advisors of the old eyes, Kings and Queens were nothing but pawns and that they themselves held the real power. When King Leo started to prove that it was indeed the King who ruled, the old Advisors had the castle raided and slipped in a personal assassin to kill King Leo. As you are fully aware of, they succeeded. Ever since then, Advisors did their own dirt in the dark to overthrow the King or Queen currently in rule. All the Advisors present knew of and cooperated in such an act. The Court Game had only been forced to be held because former Queen Lylah was starting to stick her nose where it didn't belong and in order to get King Larry away from her for a time, we started the foolish Court Game. We could care less if the Kings had a Queen, we just needed them distracted." Liara gritted her teeth and before I could stop her, she jumped on Eleni, connecting each blow from her fist into the other woman's face.
