Chapter 26

ZACK

"I guess she used too much power." Kai said

"Again." Alex added

"Yeah, but she saved our butts again." Nathan also added.

"She looks pale." Zack murmured

She was lying on my lap and was about to push her off when all three yelled no.

"What do you think you were gonna do?" Kai asked

"She saved you and you didn't have the guts to say thank you." Nathan lectured.

"The least you can do is take her home or wait right here and let her rest." Alex added.

"Fine. I'll take her home."

I raised Shailey and lifted her up.

"I'll see you later." Kai said

I started walking home when Shailey started to talk in her sleep.

"Don't...go...back to mansion."

Even in her sleep she still doesn't want to go to the mansion. What a weird girl.

Her eyes were moving and she was about to wake up. Her colors returned and she looks a lot better then when she was crying.

SHAILEY

I woke up to the face of the one who should be dead.

"Woah!" I squirmed and Zack let go of the hand holding my legs so I managed to stand.

I took some steps back.

We walked in silence and he finally said something.

"Thank you."

"Huh?" I couldn't believe that he was saying that.

"Don't push it." He glared at me with a dark face.

"Oh, um. I should be thanking you, you saved my life."

All he did was look at me and turn away.

"But you shouldn't do something as reckless as that. I'm not worth risking a life for."

"That's not true."

"Yeah, I know. Battling darkness thing."

"Thanks for dropping me off."

I was at the door when my mom came

"Zack, why don't you stay for dinner?"

"Mom!"

"Oh why not?" Mom pushed Zack to the table and made him sit down.

I closed the door and frowned. Zack came and sat on the couch.

"Where's brother?"

"Oh, he's working extra hours."

"Oh."

"Why don't you how Zack around while I prepare the food?"

"Why?" I whispered.

"He's your friend isn't he?"

"It's not like that."

She giggled, "You guys should be able to bond more if you show the house."

"Fine." I wanted to say what's the matter with you, showing a stranger into the house!?

Zack immediately followed.

"Here's my brothers room." I opened the door.

It was messy and there was a lot of posters.
