Chapter 1 -Every story begins with a beeping alarm clock.

*HALEY'S POV*

*BEEP BEEP BEEP*

"Ugh! It's too early!" I groan to myself from under my warm comforter, aggressively throwing the sheets off of my body and whacking my alarm clock.

Once the annoying sound stops, I get out of bed, sporting some bed hair and what I can only assume, my morning breath. I do my usual morning routine which includes a warm shower which relaxes my muscles.

I grab a hair tie from my bedside table, gathering my hair in one hand to tie it up and away from my face. I sigh in content before grabbing my bag for the day and treading downstairs for some breakfast.

"Good morning" My dad says as I enter the kitchen, his voice muffles from behind the newspaper his eyes are grazing.

"'Morning" I smile politely even though he can't see me.

"So are you all ready for your first day? you've got your books?" he asks casually, making conversation.

"Yeah" I nod and grab a bowl to soon full up with my favourite cereal.

He nods, "that's good"

My head turns to find Stacey, my little sister excitedly taking two stairs at a time while she practically bounds downstairs.

"It's my first day of school Haley!" She exclaims happily while jumping on the spot like I don't know she's starting school already.

"I know!" I reply happily looking down at my little sister.

"Now go have some breakfast so you can get to school quicker" Jake says, joining us in the kitchen. Stacey nods before getting herself some cereal.

"Well, I'm gonna meet Maya outside, I'll see you guys later" I go over to Stacey and my dad and give them a quick hug before waving goodbye "I'll see you at school Jake"

"See ya Haley" he says as I close the front door and walk next door. I knock on the door, patiently waiting for someone to answer it. I'm greeted with Maya's mum, Sue.

"Hey Haley" she smiles at me.

"Hi Mrs. Williams, would you be able to let Maya know I'm waiting outside?" I ask smiling at her.

"Sure, she's just finishing off her breakfast now, why don't you come inside?" She offers kindly sending me a warm smile

"Thanks" I smile while stepping into the house.

"You know where the kitchen is, she should be done by now" she walks in the other direction. I nod and walk into the kitchen.

"Hey Haley" Maya says as she puts her bowl in the sink.

"Hey, you ready to go?"

"Yeah, pretty much"

"Bye mum!" She yells from the bottom of the stairs

"Bye, you two have a good day!" Her mother yells back.

"We will!" We say in unison before walking out the door.

"So.. How's Ben?" I ask with a hint of a smirk

"He's good, we're good" she smiles. Ben and Maya have been dating for about a month now and I know for a fact they're crazy about each other.

"That's good to hear" I smile back

"So how's your brother? Still trying to make a move on Katie?" She asks and I nod, grimacing
