Chapter 20 - The beach
*HALEY'S POV*
I slip my pink and white striped bikini on and tie my hair up into a high ponytail. I put on a tank top and some denim shorts along with my flip
Flops and raybans.
"Jake! you ready yet?" I yell from the hall as I look for my phone
"Yeah, almost" he yells back
I flip the cushions on the couch and am rewarded with my previous phone. I walk up to my room and apply some sun screen before grabbing a towel.
"Ready" Jake calls as he walks down the stairs
"Have you got the house keys?" I ask and he nods "let's go" he opens the door for me and we lock the door behind us.
I slide into Jake's car and he puts the keys in the ignition. The car roars to life and we begin driving down the all too familiar roads. As children, Jake and I would come to the beach almost every weekend to swim and play in the sand. It was a part of growing up.

"Hey babe" Jake smiles at Katie as we approach most of the group.
"Hey Jake" she smiles and he pulls her into his chest, sliding his hands around her waist to hold her close while she slips her hand around his neck
"Ew" I comment, looking away. Seeing my brother and best friend sucking each others faces is still a little weird for me.
I look around the group of friends. So far, Caroline & Jay are here, along with Jasmine & Paddy, who are engrossed in their own conversation.
"Hey Jaz" I give her a hug and then move around the group saying hello to everyone.
"Don't I get a hello?" I hear a familiar voice that I've missed. I spin around on my heels and jump into Hamish's arms. A lot of people assumed we were a couple but Hamish and I were just best friends, having grown up together and all. We could never have feelings for each other. Especially since I knew he had been eyeing a girl called Prim, a very interesting name she had. I had never met her but Hamish often went on about her and how amazing she was.
"Hamish!" I say excitedly, hugging him tighter
"Can't... breath"
"Oh sorry" I laugh lightly and let him go, he's chuckling by this point too.
"I've missed my idiot" I smile at him
"I missed you too" he laughs.

"Oh, hey Dylan" Katie says, smiling. Katie and Dylan had been introduced and got along fairly well. Katie was one of the only people Dylan was actually comfortable around. He gave her a nod and a small 'hey'.
"Hi Dylan" I smile at him and give him a hug. I pull back and he stands there awkwardly.
"Oh right, everyone this is Dylan"
"Hey" they say in unison
"Hey man" Jay steps forward and shakes his hand in the bro way. Paddy, Hamish and Jake follow and Dylan gets more comfortable with them all.
"This is Caroline and Jasmine" I point to the girls.
"Hey, Dylan" he puts his hand out and shakes Caroline's hand. He's shocked when Jasmine hugs him
"I'm a hugger" Jasmine says and we all laugh "you'll get used to her" I tell Dylan.
Surprisingly there weren't many people on the beach today. Apart from a few joggers that were passing by and one or two families further up the beach, we were alone.
