Chapter 36 - Prim
*HALEY'S POV*
I watch as Carter gets out of his car, walking towards me with a smile.
"Hey babe" he says, pulling me in for a kiss.
I mumble a 'hi' and he takes my hand in his own, looking back at my house and then to my face "are you ready to go?"
"Yep" I nod, and he smiles again, bringing me to the passenger side door and opening my door for me.
"Thanks" I mumble and get into his BMW. He jogs around the outside before pulling his own door open and climbing inside.
"What time are we meeting them at?" he asks, starting up the car. We had planned on meeting Hamish and Prim at the movies and then going for lunch somewhere. Sort of like a double date.
"Um, I think they said 12:40 just in front of the cinema"
"Sounds good"

"Haley! over here!" Hamish calls, one arm wrapped around Prim's waist and the other waving like a madman.
I smiled, squeezing Carter's hand before we made our way across the mall and towards Hamish and Prim.
"Hello there stranger" Hamish smiles enthusiastically, pulling me in for a brief hug.
"Hello hello" I smile as I pull back
"You must be Carter, nice to meet you man" Hamish steps forward, shaking his hand while I step forward towards Prim.
She has a tan skin tone that goes amazingly with her wavy brown hair, she's a lot shorter than Hamish, although most people are and the dimples in her cheek make her look much younger than she is. She's beautiful.
"Hi, you must be Prim, Hamish talks about you all the time" I smile, subtlety hesitating before giving her a hug
"It's nice to finally meet you, Haley" she smiles, her dimples deepening.
"Oh, and this is Carter, my boyfriend" I gesture with my hands as I sink into Carter's side, his chest rumbles as he says, "nice to meet you" and shakes Prim's hand gently.
"Shall we go inside?" Hamish asks,
"Sure" we nod, following Hamishs lead.

The movie was really good, although I wouldn't know a lot about it if you asked me because my attention wasn't completely on the screen but rather Carter's wondering hands and Hamishs subtle warning glances that Carter seemed to miss.
All in all, Hamish and Prim were absolutely adorable, every time he would make her laugh she'd bury her face in his chest and he'd hug her tighter, chuckling softly.
It made me feel good to know that Hamish had found someone to take his heart. As cliche as it sounded, I couldn't help but smile. They deserved each other.
Carter and I were currently in his car, on the way back from the cinema. The radio was on as background noise, quietly playing through the top 40.
"Oh, babe. I just wanna let you know, my family are going up North to visit my grandma for Christmas next weekend" he says casually, briefly taking his eyes off the road to look at me.
"Oh, okay" I don't hide the disappointment in my voice. Carter turns to me at a red light, "I'm sorry" he says simply, kissing my forehead and going back to driving
"It's alright" I say quietly, looking out the window.
I could still have fun with my family this Christmas. I shouldn't let the fact that I wouldn't have Carter with me for Christmas get me down.

After Carter dropped me off at home and we said our good byes I headed upstairs and threw on my jogging clothes. It'd been too long since I went on a proper jog with Max.
I felt awful though. After spending hours and hours trying to convince my parents to let Jake and I keep Melody we had given up. My parents just weren't giving in and as a result of that we had to give her away. Of course we weren't happy about it but Melody seemed okay with the idea. We found her a home with two kids who loved her to death.
I grabbed Max's lead and harness, striding to the door, I pulled it open and watched Max bound towards me. I smiled and patted his head, locking his lead into his harness before heading out the front door.
I jogged for a good hour, stopping at the park for a while before I decided to return home. I collapsed on the couch after undoing Max's lead and letting him outside.
"Good jog?" Jake asked, making his way down the stairs towards me. I nodded tiredly with my eyes closed.

A/N It's been a while since the last update and I'm sorry. I guess I just haven't had the urge to write. I feel like this book is really not good and I don't like writing as much as I did before. I will continue though, hopefully improving as I go and editing previous chapters slightly. On that note, WOW. You guys have literally amazed me. There are so many of you now and that makes me so happy! I appreciate and love every single one of you so much :') Thank you.
