Chapter 2- so much for a quiet night in

*HALEY'S POV*

The past week has been nothing but boring, I received homework and walked to school and back with Maya. I hung out with my friends at lunch and studied hard. Today is Friday and there's no doubt everyone is buzzing for the weekend.

I, on the other hand have a plan to stay home and watch friends re-runs while stuffing my face with Ben & Jerrys ice cream.

"So, are you as excited as I am for Casons party tomorrow?" Katie asks me excitedly as she leans over the table slightly.

"Party? Um no thanks, I was gonna relax a bit actually"

"What? Why?!" Katie exclaims dramatically

"Please, Please, please come! It'll be fun and you know Cason throws the best parties of all time" Katie reels off things to get me to go and I almost laugh at how desperate she sounds.

"It's true" Maya nods.

"Who's side are you on?" I narrow my eyes at Maya who in turn puts her hands up in mock surrender.

"Please come!" Katie practically begs

"Fine, but I don't wanna hang around, you know parties aren't my thing" I tell them and they all roll their eyes.

"Yeah, ok, whatever"

"So what's the latest gossip, K?" Maya changes the subject, seemingly happy that she'd helped convince me to go to the party.

"Well, I heard that Amy and Liam hooked up at Rachel's party and now they're like the cutest couple ever! And also, someone in my geometry class said something about a Dylan Jones guy, I don't know" she rolls her eyes at the end, dismissing the new found information

"I think he robbed a service station or something, I've heard some rumours but no ones really sure what's going on with him" Katie adds, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly

"Oh I remember him! He's hot" Maya comments earning a glare from Ben who has been silent during our conversation.

"But he's not my boyfriend, so I don't want him" Maya adds, a small smile playing on her lips as she looks over at Ben.

"That's better" Ben remarks happily, pecking her lips and smiling down at her like they're an old married couple.

"Have you guys got the English assignment yet?" Katie asks, playing around with her food while looking up at us.

"Yeah, I got it yesterday, I think I'm partners with Julie Black or something?" Maya says unsurely, shrugging.

"I'm partners with this dork" Katie flicks Bens nose and laughs.

"Ow" he says rubbing his nose, playfully glaring at Katie

"Wanna trade?" Maya jokes, winking at Ben.

"I haven't got it yet, I have English on Monday though so that's probably when I'll get it" I say taking a sip of water

"Is it hard?" I ask as an after thought.

"Not really, you're good at English anyway you'll nail it"

"I found it quite easy"

"Good" I nod confidently

The bell rings loudly through the cafeteria and I get up to throw my rubbish in the bin.

"I'll see you after school Maya" I wave while walking out of the cafeteria.

I grab my books for the rest of my classes and then walk to my next class. The class goes on, I receive little to no homework and it flies by quite quickly.

After I finish my classes for the day I put away my books before heading to the front gates to meet Maya. When I get there I see that Maya isn't there yet so I wait patiently, leaning against the brick wall surrounding the school.

After a few minutes of waiting I see maya approaching me with a grin.

"Hey Maya, what's gotten into you?" I ask raising an eyebrow while starting to walk.

"Oh nothing" she lies

"Please, don't forget who you're talking to, the girl who has known you since you were 8!" I exclaim and she smiles nodding.

"It's nothing big, Ben said he's taking me out tonight" she smiles

"Aw, that's cute" I comment with a smile. The rest of the walk home is filled with talk about guys and somehow by the time we reach our street we're on the topic of a girls night in.

"I'm looking forward to it! I'll see you on Monday!" Maya says while walking to her house.

"You and Ben have fun, okay?" I say while getting my keys out and unlocking the door

"You to!" She says back before we disappear into our houses.

As usual, I drop my bag in my room and head over to Stacey's room so she can tell me about her day. I end up watching finding nemo with her and then it's time for dinner.

I start walking down the stairs until my phone starts ringing in my pocket. Reaching into my pocket I pull it out and the called ID reads Katie. Clicking accept I bring the phone up to my ear

"Hey-"

"I'm coming over in 5 minutes and we're getting ready, the party starts at 7 so we have an hour to be ready"

"Wow, wow, wow, I need to let my parents know I won't be here and who's party is it again?" I ask

"Cason's, you know? Hot Cason?" She says

"Oh yeah, got it"

"Well, I'll be over soon, see ya then!"

"Bye"

Hanging up, I make my way downstairs and to my parents.

"Hey, mum, dad" I nod politely

"So there's a party tonight, and I'm going so I won't be here for dinner, I'll be home around 11" I say

"Sure thing honey, just be safe and don't do anything I wouldn't do" my mum gives me a stern look. Ever since I was little my mum and dad have been quite easy with me, they're not strict and mean but rather relaxed and cool.

"Have fun!" My dad says

"I will, thanks"

"But how're you getting there?" My mum asks

"Katie's coming over in a couple of minutes" I say

"Good, because Jake is going to that party as well, I don't want to drive him so he can go with you"

"What? No!" I whine

"Haley" my dad warns

"Fine" I huff before walking away to find jake sitting on the couch.

"Looks like you're stuck with me" he smirks
