Our math teacher, Professor Kim entered the room and the hours of boredom had began. My ears blocked out every word that he was saying. And my gaze was lost somewhere else. Jeong's blue eyes flashed into my head, they were easy to get lost in and they seemed so innocent.
I had to get him out of my mind, so I glanced out the window. Great, it was raining. I followed each raindrop that raced down the window pane before I was interrupted by a scary, loud voice.
"I see there's something much more interesting going on outside than in here, isn't there Miss. Park?" Professor's bellowing brought me back to reality and I sat there confused on what was going on.
"Detention after school today. Do you understand?!" His strict words even made the whispering students silent.
"Yes." I quietly said, my head faced down in shame. Great. Detention on the first day.
"Now take out your homework everybody." Professor ordered and everyone followed his command like lifeless creatures.
I tried to pull out my homework, but when I couldn't feel it between my books, I panicked. Where could it have gone? I was in enough trouble already and now Professor Kim was going to rain hell on me.
Professor went round, row by row, collecting everyone's completed pieces of homework. Until he finally reached my desk. I kept my head down.
"You haven't completed your homework have you?" He questioned.
I shook my head slowly. If I told him that I had lost it instead, he would've have lectured me and wouldn't let anyone leave until he was done.
"Two hours detention!" He screamed. His voice was ringing in my ears, causing my head to ache.
He continued collecting papers and when he got to the end of my row.
"I haven't done my homework either Professor." Taehyung said, he seemed more relaxed and care free than he should have been in this situation.
"This isn't the first time you haven't done your homework, two hours detention for you too, both of you meet me back in this classroom at the end of the day."
Making sure Professor wasn't watching I turned back. Taehyung had scrunched his homework up and held it in a fist below his chair.
"Why?" I whispered.
"Just." Taehyung replied, he smiled. Thanks Taehyung. The bell rang, saving me from more punishments and lectures from Professor Kim. Finally, Professor left. The rest of our lessons flew by and at long last the end of the day had arrived. Sigh.
Detention was about to begin and Taehyung was no where to be seen. It's not like him to be late for detentions. It's not like him to not do his homework either. Professor Kim came and brought me into the classroom.
"Your two hours start now, I'll back when your time is over and I want no trouble." He stormed out the classroom, leaving me by myself.
Blankly I stared around the room, these two hours seemed to be like two days. Suddenly, a pink paper plane flew into the room and landed on the desk in front of me. Thinking it was just someone messing around, I tried to look out the door and windows, but the hallway was completely empty.
Carefully, undoing each fold, I opened up the paper. It was heart shaped. I rolled my eyes. Gross. I noticed black markings and found a message on the back.
To Park Areum,
I see you everyday
And fall harder for you every second,
You'll never know who I am,
And that you'll always question. From your secret admirer.
What is this? Secret admirer? Since when did guys admire me? More importantly, who was it from?
I wanted to throw it away, but I folded it neatly and tucked it into my phone case instead. Why did I do that? I don't care about this stupid note or this stupid secret admirer. But I still kept it.
Just then, Taehyung strolled through the the doors and seated himself next to my desk. He seemed so chilled out today. It was very unusual. It's a good thing he didn't see the note. God knows how I'd live down his mockery.
"Hey, anything new happen while I was gone?" He asked.
My eyes widened in shock. I felt as if he knew everything, and that he could see right through me but he couldn't have known, right?
"What?! Nothing! Nothing happened. Why would anything happen? I mean it's just you. And me. In class. For detention. That's all. Why would anything be happening?" I laughed nervously, but inside I was mentally face palming myself at my attempt on handling the situation.
"Right..." He laughed trying not to be weirded out. Way to go Areum.
We carried on talking and then got in trouble again by Professor Kim for talking when he walked by because we were supposed to be silent, and then continued talking. I glanced at the clock and we still had an hour to go.
"Are you ok now?" Taehyung's laughing face dropped into seriousness.
"Yeah, I'm fine, why?" He waited until I realised that he was going on about my father. "Oh," I said in realisation. "I'm better now, don't worry." I said, I smiled but I didn't want to say anymore and Taehyung could see that in my eyes.
The thought of my father began to build up in my mind and tears began to well in my eyes. We became quiet for some time until he broke the silence.
"I love you, and you know that I'm here for you, right?" Taehyung asked, his eyes widened in concern.
"I know." I replied trying hard to suck back the tears so I could continue talking to him, I smiled at him assuring him that I was ok.
He then grabbed my wrists and pulled me into a hug. One by one, tears slowly released from my eyes, I fought them and eventually won the battle.
"So Areum, tell me. If you don't trust any guy, who will you marry in the future?" He released me from the hug, seriousness broke and curiosity was written all over his face.
"Well, if I can't find myself a guy I can trust then I'll just marry you." I joked but Taehyung didn't laugh at all.
"Jinjja?!" His eyes widened like large saucers.
"Sure, why not?" I laughed at his reaction.
He pulled out a piece of paper and scribbled down some words.
"Here, sign it. It's an agreement which says if you don't find a guy to marry by the age of twenty five then you shall marry me." He pushed his made up contract and pencil towards me.
I took the pencil and signed the paper.
"Good." He smiled and stuffed it down his pocket.
His playfulness made me giggle and he laughed with me too. Several minutes had passed and my eyes began to feel heavy. I rested my head on the table using my arms for support. Slowly, my eyes drooped shut and the last thing I saw was Taehyung facing the floor, still holding the paper in his hand, smiling to himself as he played with the black, matte ring around his index finger. What is wrong with this boy?
This chapter is longer so we're getting somewhere. Sorry if it is long winded, I'm really tired it is 3:21 a.m., so I am super tired. I don't even know why I am awake at this time but yeah. I promise to write better in the next chapters. Again thanks for reading this much.
