We arrived at the ice cream shop. The same one we'd always go to. I never got bored with this place, the small tables and cosy chairs were the best.
"Which flavour?" He asked, pointing to the options above the cashier.
"You know which one I want. Just a small cup please." I said, slipping into a chair, nearby.
My mind wandered to the last time we came here after the Father and Daughter dance. I lightly smiled to myself, watching the little bell still ringing from when we came in through the door. Taehyung ordered our ice creams and brought them back with him.
I frowned when he didn't get his usual order of funky monkey.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"No funky monkey?" I pouted whilst pointing to the bag that sat on the table in front of him.
"It's not for me." He said, chuckling a little at my reaction.
I looked at him confused.
"It's for my father, he hasn't had ice cream in a long time." He said, lazily leaning back in his chair. "I thought I'd surprise him." He smiled a little to himself.
I scooped up the first spoon and pushed it towards his mouth, "Here," I said, wiggling the spoon near his pursed lips, he eyed me as if I was some sort of weird alien.
"We'll share." I smiled.
"It's ok, I'm n.."
I shoved the spoonful into his mouth before he could finish off. He smiled warmly at me, his face stuffed with ice cream as he tried devouring it. I laughed at him as he struggled, gradually finishing it. I carried on eating my ice cream as Taehyung got up from his seat.
"I'll be back, I need to go grab something from the store." And with that he rushed out the door, hurdling across the road, down to the convenient store.
I scooped up another spoonful, but was soon interrupted by the bell near the door. Taehyung was already back, that was quick. My head shot up, my eyes caught up to a pair of bright, blue eyes. It was Jeong, holding hands with... Seoyeon! Jeong's eyes widened a little, before looking away immediately. I felt a weird pain in my heart, tears threatening my eyes but I kept it all in. I didn't say a word.
My eyes still on him and Seoyeon, he walked past the table I was sharing with Taehyung, to the cashier. She looked back, eyeing me with disgust. She leaned in closer to him, her lips practically grazing his jawline.
"Do you know her?" She tried whispering, her voice came out loud enough to be heard in the whole room.
She pointed at me, a smirk forming on her lips. I hung my head low, hiding behind my bangs. He turned his head round, smirking at me.
"No," He said, coldly.
My body felt weak at this point, like I had been hit by a truck.
"I've never seen her in my life." He said again.
My appetite was lost, I pushed the half empty bowl away from me. Me head spun from the millions of thoughts clouding my mind. I clutched on to my jacket around my waist, praying for this to all be a dream.
They got their order and strolled out the store. My eyes still fixed on both the figures. Jeong looked at me again, his eyes weren't warm like before, he rolled them at me before finally leaving through the door with Seoyeon. Taehyung came back with another bag in his arms. I looked at the floor, wanting to throw myself onto him, but I couldn't.
He already had a lot going on in his life. Today, after all this time he finally got to be happy and see his friends. I couldn't ruin it for him.
He slipped into his chair again, "Thought I'd get some video games for my father." He chuckled a little, running his fingers through his hair.
