The morning Sun rose, lighting up my room. The weekend had arrived, I smiled and sat up in my bed, blindly searching for my phone and scrolled through messages. I saw a message from Jeong:
'Good morning jagiya ♡'
Just seeing those words across my screen brought a smile to my face.
I replied to his message:
'Good morning oppa ♡.'
I swung off my bed and went to freshen up, finally heading to the kitchen. I noticed a small note stuck to the refrigerator:
I had to go work early today, make yourself some breakfast. I left some money on the counter for your date, have fun!
I glanced over to the other side of the room and noticed a thick envelope. It had my name on it, I opened up to find a huge wad of money. So turns out I'm going to fairground after all but why did my mother leave so much? I sat down at the table and began to tuck into my cereal.
The door bell sounded and I opened the door only to find Jeong standing there.
He held onto my waist, "Are you ready?" He asked.
He pecked my cheek and made his way in. I gave a confused look.
"Your mother told me that she ungrounded you and that you were going to the fairground with me." He said as he sat down on the chair next to me.
How did my mother already find him, I mean she doesn't even know the guy and she already managed to contact him? I shook my head at my mother's mischievousness and quickly finished up my breakfast. Jeong sat there patiently, watching my every move. I grabbed half of the money my mother left me and shoved it into my pocket.
"Let's go." I called Jeong as I put on my jumper.
He came to join me and we both left the house hand in hand. Jeong hadn't said anything since we left the house.
I stopped in my tracks, "What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing." He said.
I raised an eyebrow at him before continuing to walk again but he didn't budge. My head shot round and he released my hand.
"Areum, urm, I have something for you." And with that he pulled out a small, navy blue box.
He gently took my hand and kneeled down, revealing the ring from the box. It was beautifully designed, diamond encrusted, it looked really expensive.
"Jeong, you didn't have to." I said, trying hard not to blush but he smiled at me, placing the ring on my finger.
He stood up again, took my hand and carried on walking till we finally reached the entrance of the fairground.
We sat on the bumper cars, the spinners and ate the food there. Nearly half the day passed and we were still on the rides until finally we had sat on every ride there was. The only thing left was the walk-in haunted mansion. I gulped and held onto Jeong's hand tighter, I wasn't very good with these type of things. He rubbed his thumb across my forehand and smiled at me, reassuring me that it's ok. We walked in but the darkness was already creeping me out. Jeong let go of my hand and slipped his arm around my waist, guiding me through the attraction.
Every time a ghoul would pop out I would jump and Jeong chuckled at me. I stared at him, telling him to stop but he couldn't see through the darkness. We finally reached the end and came outside in the open where there was light and people. I sighed in relief.
"That wasn't bad." He said, looking down at me.
"You're right. That was horrible." I shuddered from the memory of the dark, scary place.
He laughed and pulled me towards the exit. We slowly walked home, because of all the time we had left.
Finally reaching the gate, Jeong cupped my face in his hands, "I love you." He said, he kissed me before releasing me.
I wrapped my arms round him, his tall body towered over me. I snuggled into him and his embrace grew tighter. We soon were interrupted by a loud squeal. My mother stood at the front door.
"Ah, you are Jeong," She said. "Come in." She walked in the house, I stared at her blankly but Jeong had already began walking in.
I stood, dumbfounded but then scurried off inside the house to find him already sitting down on the couch with a cup of tea, chatting to my mother. They both looked up at me and smiled and I quickly slipped into the free space next to Jeong. The two talked while I sipped on my tea.
"So when did you first kiss?" My mother suddenly asked, my eyes widened and I choked on the tea that I had sipped.
Jeong looked at me, I gave him a weak smile and he turned round again to continue talking to my mother.
"Well," He started of saying.
My eyes widened and my mother giggled at my state causing Jeong to turn around. He smiled and placed his hand on mine.
"It was this week actually, I couldn't help myself, she's just so beautiful." He turned back and smiled at me only to find myself hiding behind my bangs, turning red all over.
He tucked my loose hair behind my ear.
My mother smiled at us and then rose, "I'll put these away." She took the tray of food and began to leave.
"Let me help you Mrs. Park." Jeong said, he took of his jacket and took all the mugs, following my mother into the kitchen.
I heard muffled noises from their conversation as I played on my phone. Finally, I decided to join them. I found my mother washing the dishes and Jeong by her side drying them. I leaned against the doorway, scrolling through my phone. A message from Taehyung came up:
I heard you and Jeong are now together. Congratulations.
I hadn't heard from Taehyung this whole week. Ever since Monday, when Jeong had confessed he seemed distant. He's missed so many days of school, it's not like him to do so. But even when he did I could rarely find him during recess and we no longer walked to school and back home, he always blowed me off, saying he had detention or something like that. I think I should visit him some time.
"Areum?" Jeong's voice interrupted my thought.
I looked up at him, "I'm going now." He said, he turned back and waved to my mother.
We both walked to the front gate, "I'll see you tomorrow." He said.
I tiptoed to reach his face and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek while my mother was turned around. He did the same, smiled and left.
