Areum's father's point of view:
I opened my eyes slowly, my vision blurry again. I squinted at the bright light and sat up in my place. My head still hurt, I ran my fingers through my hair to find bandages wrapped around my head. I eyed the whole room, how did I get here? I scratched the back of my head wondering how I got into the hospital ward.
*Flashback*
I found it. It was perfect. "I'll get this one." I said, pointing to the necklace that lay behind the showcase.
The shop assistant came over to me and smiled, "Nice choice."
She went round and gently lifted it of the cushion and placed it inside a square, red box, neatly tying it off with a bow.
"For the Mrs, right?" She said, pushing buttons into the computer beside her.
"Yeah." I chuckled, smiling at the thought of my newlywed wife.
She handed me the box in a little gift bag and headed back to serve other customers.
"Bo Mi is gonna love this." I whispered to myself.
I noticed a small store and decided to get a few things before I headed home. I was leaving the store down the road with a few groceries, heading up the street, dodging the busy people that made their way in the opposite direction when I noticed someone familiar crossing the road.
My gaze was on the her, recalling who she was. My eyes widened in realisation. It couldn't be. But it was. It was Haneul. I thought I'd never see her again. My body tensed and I felt this weird feeling in my chest but my feet didn't stop. My eyes were still on her, she hadn't changed a bit. The same bright eyes, the dimple smile. I found myself getting closer and closer to her, following wherever my feet took me.
Our eyes locked. Her gaze widened and she quickly turned back, walking away from my direction. I ran behind her, her arm almost in my grasp when something hit me from the side and I was thrown off course. My body flung in the air, across the road, my head hit something behind me hard. My vision became blurry and the last thing I saw was Haneul, running towards me.
*End of flashback*
I looked around the room again, my eyes caught by the gift bag sitting on the edge of the table on the far end of the room along with the other things I bought earlier today. Just then a nurse popped her head round the door.
"Mr. Park, I see you're awake. It's time for you to take your medicine." She said, walking, over to me with a tray.
I took the pills and the glass of water and swallowed down my medicine.
The nurse set the tray beside me, "Dr. Choi, will be here in a few minutes." She said and then quickly paced out the room.
I sat there waiting for the doctor to arrive. "Mr. Park?" A tall woman came in, she wore a white coat, with a stethoscope around her neck, I guess she's Dr. Choi.
"How you feeling? Any symptoms? Headache? Weakness?" She asked whilst she read the monitor near me and scribbled into the book in her arms.
"Nothing serious." I said, as the pain quickly eased from my headache after I took my medicine.
"Good," she said, pushing her glasses back up the bridge of her nose. "You can be discharged now, follow me." She walked out the room and I quickly followed behind her.
