Mason, Jake and I made our way back to the packhouse of the Snowflake pack.

We shifted behind some trees and put the clothes on that were prepared for our return.

While Mason and I both had shorts and a tshirt, Jake lacked shorts. Mason bursted out laughing and even I could not hide a smile.

When we three arrived here not even two months ago, it soon became clear that one of the she wolves of the Snowflake pack fancied Jake.

Corinne always managed somehow to be near Jake or to touch him in ways that seemed overly friendly. To give her some credit it was Jake's fault that she was even interessted in him.

At first she would not spare a glance in our direction, because the Alpha ordered everybody to not disturb our work here. However, one morning she was dusting a painting in the library, where Alpha Nate told us to meet. Corinne was standing on a ladder and lost her balance. Jake caught her, even though he knew that werewolves were perfectly capable to land on their feet on their own, because of their good reflexes.

After that it became a game to him to make her blush. He would brush up against her or wink at her. When he realized that Corinne thought he liked her, Jake dropped his attitude and began to ignore her.

I did not quite like how Jake handled the situation, but it was his life. After all he obeyed one of the only rules there were for a warrior. As a warrior you were not allowed to have a family, because your sole purpose was to protect the werewolve race.

It was everywhere known that warriors could not settle down, but it was also known that warriors were not indisposed to she wolves. However, Jake was an honorable man and knew that Corinne had not found her mate yet. He did not want to take something that was supposed to be for her mate.

Corinne soon realized what Jake was doing and began to ignore him as well. Though she made it her goal to embarrass him as a payback for how Jake had treated her.

"Not again!", Jake groaned.

"Just stay here man and we'll send someone who brings you some shorts.", Mason grinned at him.

As soon as we walked through the door of the pack house Alpha Nate stormed towards us and bombarded us with questions.

"What happened? Is the rouge dead? Where is warrior Jake? Is he dead?"

"Alpha, we should go in your study to answer all your questions, but I would appreciate it if someone could bring warrior Jake something to wear as he lacks some pants.", I answered him good naturedly.

"Yes, of course.", Alpha Nate mumbled, seemingly embarrassed that he lost his cool in front of some of his pack members.

We followed him in his study and as soon as Jake joined us, we explained that now every single rouge that attacked his pack was dead.

"Thank you warriors. You truly saved my pack!", he expressed his gratitude.

Mason and Jake left his study to inform the werewolve council about tonights happenings. I, however remained with the yound Alpha.

"How are you?", I asked him.

Alpha Nate looked me dead in the eye and told me:" I'm better, honestly. I can't tell you how hard it was for us...for me that the rouges killed my parents. I did not know what to do. I really wanted to search those bastards myself and kill them until every single one of them was dead!" He clenched his fists.

"You decided well, Alpha. I know that it was not easy, especially for an Alpha wolf, but the decision you made was a very clever one. You showed the council that you are indeed a level headed Alpha, who cares about the well-being of his pack. Without your immediate stepping up to your father's old position your pack would have ended in chaos. I'm sure your father is very proud of how you handeled everyhing, Alpha Nate!", I said to him sincerely.

Alpha Nates face had softened. "Thank your, warrior Leo! Without my mate I don't know what I would've done," he added sheepishly. "That reminds me, my mate wanted to invite you and the other two warriors to the mate ceremony of the Wildflower pack."

Inwardly I winced when he told me what kind of ceremony it was, but I knew that it was a great honour to be invited to these ceremonies and one could not simply deny these invitations.

"Thank you, Alpha Nate. We gladly accept and will accompany you and your mate."

As soon as I was in the room, which was provided for us warriors, I flopped down on the bed and closed my eyes.

A mating ceremony.

Happy male and she wolves finding their love of their lives.

Just by their scents the wolves could find their destined mate.

Just by their scent they knew that they would be loved unconditionally.

Just by their scent they knew that they would live happily ever after.

Just by their scent they knew with whom they would have a family and many pups.

Just by their scent they would have all the promises I would never have.
