When Olivia's eyes closed, I was damn sure that I would never going to see her beautiful emerald green eyes ever again.

I pressed my own eyes closed not able to see my beautiful mate laying there on the hospital bed any longer.

When her hand fell from my face, I was damn sure that the tingles would never going to erupt on my skin ever again.

I clenched my fists tightly so that I would not punch the wall beside me.

When my mate whispered her last words to me, I was damn sure that I would never get to hear her soft and angelic voice ever again.

Everything was my fault! My wolf howled in agony and grief.

I could feel more tears streaming down my face and I did not care if anyone saw me.

If I would not have promised Sir Alexander to help him, we would have never gone into the woods, Mason would not have almost died, Olivia would not have had to heal him,...

"She's just sleeping.", a gentle voice came from behind me and interrupted my gloomy thoughts.

Instantly I opened my eyes and I could indeed see Olivia's chest rising up and down.

I exhaled a shaky breath. My mate was still here and I felt myself smile, because I should have known that my Olivia was a fighter.

I took her hand in my own and I could still feel light tingles from her touch. I breathed out relieved and it felt like my heart was finally able to beat again.

"That was a very selfless thing to do.", Sir Alexander mentioned, now beside me.

I quickly looked at him and noticed that he appeared to be much better. His skin was back to normal and had the glow it used to have. His appearance was one of a very trained man and there was this powerful sensation coming from him. On the one side I was glad to see the head fit and strong again. However, a big part of me wondered how different the circumstances concerning Olivia's health would be now, if she would not have healed him fully.

"I would understand it, if you would resent me now!", the head said softly.

My gaze was already on my mate again, because I just had to make sure to notice everything that made her slightly uncomfortable or appeared to change her expression or position.

I could not answer Sir Alexander, because most of what he just mentioned was true. I did really kind of resent him, but also I did not. If Olivia could hear my thoughts she would definitely tell me to forgive the head and that it was not his but her own.

I sight and said: "I'm glad you're well again. it's just a little too much for me right now. Not sure if my mate is going to survive and then my uncle being the traitor and killer he was."

"I'm really sorry about your uncle Leo! As I'm sure you read the file and the letters in my study and you must know that your uncle had always been a suspect. Shortly before he poisoned me I found my first clues concerning his practice of black magic. However, then I was too weak to investigate further and the only one I could have trusted with my discoverings would have been Jason.", the head tried to explain to me.

He must have noticed my confused expression, because he continued telling me: "Jason's and my friendship goes way back. You must know him as head warrior Beck."

Surprised I looked at him and realized at the same moment that the boy Jason mentioned in his letter and vowed to protect was me. He also referred to the boy showing Alpha Qualities and my wolf howled proudly in my mind.

"So my uncle thought that I was going to be a danger for him and challenge him as soon as he would be Alpha, so he set up the meeting with the warriors and their assistants?", I asked Sir Alexander astonished.

He nodded and explained: "Yes. I think your uncle planned everything a long time before the rogue attack happened and first he had to eliminate you. As you know there never was a proper test to check if you showed warrior qualities. Your uncle was a very trustworthy and convincing man, so why not believe him. If there would have actually been a test everbody would have seen that you showed Alpha and not warrior qualities. After you got send to the warrior HQ your uncle carried on with his plan. The rest you know.."

I nodded my head and wanted to know: "So I'm the rightful Alpha to the Blue moon pack. What happens with my uncle's council position?"

Sir Alexander kindly smiled at me and responded: "It's yours if you want it. Not only did your mate save me, but you both earned my trust as well."

Again I nodded my head and whispered: "Thank you!"

Finally I knew why all the time I longed for a mate and I never felt quite whole. Finally I knew that there was a pack waiting for my guidance. However, without Olivia I did not want anything.

"What about Mason and Jake?", I wanted to know.

"Aaah..I have to verify my theory again, but I think that both of them are also not meant to be warriors. Did you know that Mason and Jake come from packs bordering the Blue moon pack? My theory is that your uncle knew that Mason and Jake would endanger his Alpha position as well so he told the warrior assistants to go see them for themselves. Mason's and Jake's qualities did convince them, again without first testing them, and they got send to the warrior's as well."

I nodded my head in understanding and Sir Alexander said in a gentle voice: "Your mate is such a unique one, I'm really glad the moongoddess paired you! I just know that she's going to make it. She's a fighter this one!"

He placed his hand on my shoulder in reassurance then turned around and left the hospital wing.

Shorly after Sir Alexander's departure Mason and Jake came in and took seats beside me as well.

I could feel Mason nervously fidgeting beside me and I looked sternly at him.

He stopped at once, gulped and then said in a rush: "I'm so sorry for letting Olivia get hurt!"

I sight and closed my eyes briefly. When I opened them I responded: "It's not your fault. My uncle appeared out of nowhere. I couldn't have stopped him either..."

And as soon as I said those words, I knew they were true. Nothing could have stopped my uncle, not even me, Olivia's own mate.
