It can't be...

I was rooted to my spot close to the balcony.

My wolfe clearly shouted at me that he could smell my mate.

My mate? I thought that was impossible. Was fate playing a cruel trick on me?

As I dared to turn around after several attempts, I prepared myself to face a disappointment.

How could a warrior have a mate? I probably just smelt something really good.

The Wildflower pack was famous for their wildflowers and their magnificent smell. Surely this vanilla - cinnamon smell came from a flower.

Unwillingly my eyes already began to search for my special someone.

Jake interrupted my thoughts and my search as he almost knocked me over.

"Leo! Alpha Lockhart wants to speak with us!", Jake mumbled nervously.

I frowned, what did the Alpha of the Wildflower pack want from us?

My wolf again reminded me of the enthralling scent, but I could not smell it anymore.

He was disappointed and demanded that I should follow every lead that would get me to the scent's source.

However, I know that my priority for now was seeing the Alpha.

Jake took his pleasure in interrupting Mason and his dance partner and together we made our way towards the Alpha's office.

One of his daugthers showed us the way.

My wolf was always present and restless, because he could smell our supposed mate all over the place.

The scent, however, was not fresh.

I shook my head and tried to clear my thoughts.

Mason knocked on the wooden door and after a gruff "Come in!" we entered the office.

My wolf went completely beserk and I had to try my very best not to let my controll on him slip.

"Mate...", he whimpered.

I tried to ignore him and focused my attention on Alpha Lockhart.

The Alpha was sitting in his chair behind a mahagony desk, where a lot of files piled up a good part of his working place.

He looked us in the eyes and I could see that he was pleased to see us.

"Welcome to my pack! It's a great pleasure to meet such superb warriors as you three are!", he began to praise us as he stood up.

Mason grinned proudly at him and even Jake could not supress a small smile.

"I hope you are having fun at the party. I know that it can all be very overwhelming, but my mate absolutely loves parties and how could I deny her anything?", he chuckled as he fondly spoke about his mate.

"To tell you the truth, she just wants our children to find their mates and shower us with grandbabies", he continued.

All three of us tried to not show our discomfort at this topic.

However, the Alpha noticed and smiled at us saddly.

"I know what a price you warriors have to pay and I can't even try to understand how your life must be, but you all should know that life always has something in store for us. So if it's not a mate, I bet there is something else waiting for you!"

He walked to a big window that allowed him to overlook a great deal of his pack grounds and mumbled absent-minded: "I always try to tell my eldest daughter that. She is a healer and I'm sure you heard that healers too are not destined to have mates. She is a brave young girl and with her gift she can do so much!"

A silence stretched upon our group and my wolf used this opportunity to ponder about the Alpha's words.

This healer daughter of his caught his attention and he wanted to know more about her. I did not even question my wolf's interest, I just kept shutting him out.

"Thank you for your permission to let us join the ceremony.", I expressed our thanks.

"No problem, I know that this is something else and I would wish for even more wolves to come!", he smiled at us.

Suddenly his eyes glazed over probably because someone has mind linked him.

Jake and Mason looked at me unsure about what to do next, but I signaled them to stay put.

"Oooh what wonderful news!", the Alpha exclaimed triumphantly.

"My daughter has found her mate. You must excuse me. I have to meet her mate and make a scary first impression. You know father duties and all that!", he chuckled and rushed out of his office.

"Phew. This was getting a bit awkward...", Mason mumbled.

"I know right. I hate talking about the mate topic!", Jake grumbled.

"Ahh you have no sensitivity. I meant his poor daughter, who can't have a mate as well!", Mason cried out.

"Ooh that..well maybe we can have some fun with her and ...... ", Jake began to say, but a growl that I did not even know I could produce left my chest.

"You will do no such thing!", I spat at him.

"Chill Leo. If you want her, then you can have her!", Mason began to compromise.

"I never saw you having fun anyway, right Jake?", he questioned Jake.

I did not even listened to their conversation anymore, because I was too preoccupied in hoping that not his eldest daughter had found her mate.
