As I exited the Alpha's study I saw Mason and Jake gathered close to the door apprently waiting for me.
I smiled at them reassuringly and closed the door."What's going on?", was the first question out of Mason's mouth.
"Is she really your mate?", Jake wanted to know.
I began to walk away from them and they both took the hint and followed me.
I wondered shortly what Olivia was doing right now, but decided it was better to look for her after my conversation with my two friends. My attention was needed here now.Once outside I made sure that nobody was nearby to hear our conversation.
I did not want to treat my mate like a secret, but better safe than sorry. I wanted the coucil to hear it from me and not from someone else."I know you both have a lot of questions, but I'm not sure if I can answer them.", I told them with an apologetic smile on my face.
Mason and Jake shared a look with each other, before they both spoke at once.
"Is the Alpha's eldest daughter your mate?"
"Yes she is!", I said with pride in my voice, " and I know this sounds crazy, because both she as a healer and I as a warrior are not supposed to have one, but the signs are all there. Her wonderful smell, her being the most perfect and beautiful woman I ever laid eyes on, the tingles when we touch and the world stopping when we lock eyes."
Mason made puking noises, because of how corny my description was and I laughed at that. Never in my life was I known to be corny or even the slightest bit romantic. While it was true that I never wanted a woman, heck I was never even interested in one, because I thought warriors were not meant to be loved, I never made an attempt to woo someone.
"But how?", Jake desperately wanted to know.
I looked at him and I could see hope in his eyes and I hated to crush his world, but I just wasn't sure if Olivia and I were a coincident or if warriors really were meant to have mates too.
"I'm not sure Jake. You know I never went looking for a mate, because I thought warriors had none. But here she is. I don't even understand how that is possible, because she as a healer was also supposed to be mateless. So I don't want to lie to you and tell you to keep your hopes up, because I'm just not sure why any of this is happening!", I told Jak sincerely.
For a short moment he looked devastated, but he realized the truth in my words and then he smiled at me.
"I'm really happy for you Leo. You deserve a mate, you really do! It's just...I'm envious okay.", he admitted and looked disturbed by this thought.
"I totally understand, I would be envious as well!", I told Jake and put my right hand on his shoulder. He looked up at me and grinned.
"You guys know I love watching you both be touchy touchy, but what's the plan now? I mean our last task is accomplished and we should head back to the headquarters, but you got a mate now, so what are we going to do?", Mason asked.
I smiled at him, because wether or not I had found my mate, Mason still considered all three of us a team and I really appreciated this.
"Before I head back I want to visit my uncle with Olivia."
"Good idea. The council will know a reason why all this is happening and hopefully they will have a solution!", Jake caught my train of thought.
"So when do we leave?", Mason wanted to know.
Smiling again at his obvious idea of us being a team forever, I answered: "You both are welcome to tag along, because as far as I'm concerned you also deserve to know why I have a mate and if maybe there are mates for you as well."
At that Jake nodded satisfied and Mason rolled his eyes.
"As if anyone could handle all this sexiness.", he said in a husky voice, which sounded really nothing like his usual one.
Jake burst out laughing and hollered: "If you ever get a mate I'm already sorry for her!"
"Shut up! You are just jealous that I'm a lot stronger than you!", Mason challenged and flexed his right arm.
"Ha you wish!", shouted Jake.
However, I knew that this was going to get down to a fight.
In all my missions with Mason and Jake, and believe me there were a lot of them, because after our first one the headquarter decided we work well as a team and therefore we always ended up with each other, there always was fighting involved. If we really would live in a pack with an Alpha and Beta, etc. Jake and Mason would always challenge each other for their position.
While Mason was indeed stronger than Jake, Jake used his speed to outwit Mason, which happened every once in a while.I rolled my eyes at their childish behaviour and realized that my wolf was getting impatient, because our mate was not near us.
"I will mind-link you guys after I spoke with Olivia.", I told them.
I did not wait for a reply just turned around and went to look for my mate.
The noises of shifting and ripped clothing sounding trough the night.
