Too good to be true?

I stormed out of the Alpha's office. My mate the only thing on my mind.

Mason's bickering about the Alpha's eldest daughter did not sit good with me or my wolf to say the least.

My wolf wanted to tear Mason apart for speaking that way about my mate.

..my mate? Could this be true?

I have never heard about a warrior having a mate, neither about a healer finding their destined ones.

As I was trying to find my way back to the ballroom, where I thought Alpha Lockwood was meeting up with his daughter and her mate, lots of scents tried to invade my subconsious. That was the work of my wolf, who wanted to convince me to follow his lead.

He tried to locate where our mate was and everytime he smelt something that was similiar to our mate's scent he went berserk.

After some time and some serious headaches I gave up and followed him willingly.

Luckily nobody saw me arguing with him. A warrior so out of tune with his wolf was never a good sight to look at.

My wolf lead me towards a staircase, which I climbed up quickly.

On the upper level the scent of my mate was even more present and I had to hold back the urge to moan.

I followed the hallway and stopped at the last door.

I knew that I was the only person up here so I turned the knob, swiftly walked inside and closed the door.

I knew that it was a cowardly behaviour but after entering the room I pressed my eyes as hard as I could shut.

Again I could not wrap my mind around the happenings tonight.

Was this really the room of my mate?

What did it look like?

Lots of girly clothes?

Maybe even boy clothes?

I mean she must be aware of the fact that her chance of having mate must be close to zero, so why not indulge in an adventure with a male wolf?

This train of thought made me angry.

How dare she had a boyfriend, when she had a mate out there waiting for her!

However, my wolf tried to tell my soothingly that I could not know for certain if she had one or not if I would not even open my eyes and take a proper look at her room.

I had to laugh at that.

In the werwolfe council I was known to be great and brave warrior - one of the best.

And now the room of my supposed mate scared me?

I shook my head and tried to clear my thoughts. I inhaled deeply the scent of vanilla and cinnamon and then I opened my eyes.

The first thing I noticed was that it was a really tidy room.

There were no clothes laying on the ground or on the bed. I really liked that fact about her, if she even was my mate.

Everything seemed to be useful in some way.

The walls were painted straw yellow except of one, which was painted in apple green. There was a bed, a desk, a closet with a big mirror and shelfs with lots of books on it.

I stepped into the room to take a closer look at the books. They all seemed to be about medicine, the human body and healing.

It took me a second to realize that my mate was indeed Alpha Lockwood's eldest daughter.

The thought of her being the Alpha's daughter should have occured sooner to me, because just the Alpha's family lived on the upper level of the pack house.

Still holding a book in my hand I placed it back on the shelf.

Had she really just met her mate and if the answer would be yes, then who was I? Her mate? Her second chance mate?

I knew second chance mates were rare, but some lucky ones had them.

So if I was her second chance mate, then her feelings for her first mate would be stronger than for me.

For a second I could not breath. She would choose him over me.

Should I even go and find her, just so that she can tell me she does not want me?

My wolf roared and I did my best to suppress the howl my wolf wanted to let out.

Suddenly I heard steps coming up the staircase.

I was so deeply lost in my own thoughts that I did not hear them quick enough.

All there was left to do was either hide or walk out the door risking running into the person who was walking up the stairs.
