He's back

"MASON!", Jake yelled astonished and flung himself at Mason, who was just managing to sit up.

Mason, who was still a bit winded, was not able to catch him and therefore was back on the floor again with Jake on top of him.

"Get off of me!", Mason spluttered.

"Oh ah of course, sorry!", Jake seemed embarrassed by his actions, got up so that he was now beside Mason again.

"It's good to see you again!", I told Mason softly and placed my hand on his shoulder.

He smiled seemingly exhausted at me, but then his gaze immediately went to my mate.

"You healed me!", Mason stated stunned.

Olivia smiled softly at him and explained: "I never did that before, but it was something I read about."

"Why not try it now.", Mason chuckled.

Olivia giggled lightly and I wrapped an arm around her and kissed her temple. Now she was not only my miracle but ours.

"Thank you, Live!", Mason told her gently. He wanted to get up and hug her, but I growled at that. My wolf and I were even more on edge now. Not only did we almost loose a brother of ours, but our mate was still not ours.

"You're very welcome!", she answered softly.

Jake helped Mason onto his feet and when Mason was sure that he was not going to faint he said: "So I think I heard that you were worried about me, Jakey boy."

Jake blushed and stammered: "Well....a bit maybe...."

"That did not sound like a bit!", I teasingly told Mason and stood up as well.

"HA I knew it, you would miss me so much!", Mason exclaimed triumphantly.

Jake rolled his eyes, but there was a smile on his lips and he did not try do deny it.

I offered my hand to Olivia, who was still kneeling on the ground, and she gratefully took it. When my mate was up on both of her legs she stumbled, but I caught her instantly.

"What's wrong?", I wanted to know.

She smiled reassuringly at me and said: "Just tired! You know it's not easy to bring someone back from the dead!"

I chuckled at that and Mason and Jake joined in.

"And I'm sure bringing a hunk like Mason back costed you all your energy!", Jake drawled.

"Hey, did you just say I'm fat?", Mason playfully pushed him.

"Well yes I did!", Jake proudly told him.

"You're so going to get it! When...", Mason started,

"Guys!", Olivia said. "Mason you need a good night's rest and take it easy the next couple of days!"

Mason nodded at my mate and my wolf and I were pleased about how she handled the situation.

Jake muttered something about Mason being whipped, but Mason argued: "Hey Live just saved my sorry ass life so I better do what she says!"

We made our way back and whereas Mason was almost back to his full strength, you could still se he was exhausted and a bit slower than usual, he was better of than my mate.

Olivia had trouble walking, because she kept tripping over her own feet. After several attempts of her trying to keep up with us I just lifted her into my arms - bridal style. My wolf and I were satisfied that she now was safely in our arms.

I could see how worn out she looked and Olivia gently smiled in thanks at me and kissed me over my heart. I could swear that my heart, which was already accelerating, because my mate was so close to me, sped up even more.

I tightened my grip on her and thanked the moongoddess yet again for Olivia.

After we had made our way almost out of the Wood, I told Mason and Jake to stop. I wanted to use the coverage of the forest for a last confidential talk.

With Olivia still in my arms, who of course said that she could stand on her own, we discussed our discovery of the magic circle.

"Do you know anyone of the council members, who is able to make black magic spells?", Jake wondered.

We all shook our heads in denial and I told them that I planned to go to Sir Alexander right now.

As we stepped into the light of the moon again our confidential talk was over and we said our good nights inside the castle.

Mason again tried to hug Olivia, which I allowed for mere seconds. Mason chuckled and whispered at Olivia: "I'm really glad that Leo has you as his mate!"

"I second that!", Jake spoke from behind Mason.

Mason and Jake disappeared into Masons room, because Jake wanted to make sure that Mason indeed was going to bed now.

In our room I laid Olivia on the bed and sat beside her. I tenderly stroke her cheek still astonished by what she accomplished tonight.

"Thank your for bringing Mason back!"

Olivia's eyes softened and she placed her own hand over the one, which was caressig her cheek.

"Of course! He's my friend now too!"

Although my wolf was having a fit about our mate liking another male, I was still glad that Olivia accepted Mason and Jake already as her friends.

"I would love nothing else, but to stay here with you, but..", I began to speak.

"Don't worry I understand! It's important that you tell Sir Alexander about what we discovered.", Olivia said softly. "I'm beat anyway and just want to sleep!"

I kissed her forhead again and left our room to go find Sir Alexander.

I found his scent leading into the kitchen and that was exactly where he was.

He just wanted to take a drink from the milk, when I stopped him rushing forward and shouting: "NO!"

Sir Alexander froze immediately and looked at me.

"There's wolfsbane in it.", I explained.

He instantly went to the sink and poured all the milk into the drain.

"Tell me what you found out.", he said exhausted.

I went over so that I just had to whisper lowly and told him about Mason finding the wolfsbane and our discovery of the magic circle.

"I hope warrior Mason is alright now!"

"Yes, my mate healed him and he's almost back to normal already.", I promised him.

"That's good to hear.", he said reassured.

"Do you have anyone in mind that uses black magic?", I wanted to know.

Sir Alexander spoke hushed: "No, but with all the books in the council's library about black magic, even though they should only be accessible to me, it could be everyone of the council members."

I nodded thoughtfully at him and let my mind wander if I had seen something during my summer vacation when I was younger. I came up empty.

"There's something else I wanted to discuss with you. I looked into you pack's history a bit more and also into the attack and I think I found something!", Sir Alexander whispered.

However, he did not continue on what he found, just stepped away from me and placed the now empty milk on a counter.

I then sensed another person coming close to us and my uncle entered the kitchen.

"Remember young friend, there is only one thing that shows you but not what you think.", Sir Alexander said in a riddle to me.

Each summer Sir Alexander would give me a riddle and I was always able to solve it until I had to leave again. By now I was really good at solving them, but it had been a long time ago since the last one.

What did he mean to tell me with this riddle?
