My wolf was fully in control and there was nothing I could do or say to convince him to let go. Honestly I was glad, because I still had the images in front of my eyes of my mate laying on the floor covered in blood.

What have I ever done to deserve this stroke of fate?

What had Olivia done, the purest and most selfless creature I knew?

I heard about werewolves turning rogue solely because they lost their mate. I never quite understood their reasons, however now I could completely see why.

I nearly immediately gave up when I saw her almost lifeless body. The only thing keeping me alive was revenge and now that it was satisfied there was nothing left for me to.

I could literally feel myself slipping away. I just hoped that whereever I would go Olivia would be there as well.

However, suddenly the softest voice whispered my name and my wolf howled in agony.

Was she still there? If that was really the case I had to see her, talk to her, touch her.

My need to see if it really was Olivia's voice whispering my name overpowered every single negative emotion and I could feel myself regaining control again.

My wolf did not try to fight me. It actually felt like he was pushing me to take control again.

When I retained full control, I shifted immediately rushed towards the angelic voice.

I noticed a naked man kneeing next to her and growled aggressively at him. In this moment I did not care that it was Mason. I saw anyone as a threat to my mate's life.

Mason backed up rather quickly and I was now alone with Olivia.

"I'm sorry!", she breathed out and her eyes were filled with unshed tears.

I took her gently into my arms, because I could not just not touch her. I felt the tingles erupting whereever we touched and it broke me inside to think that this was the last time I felt them.

"You've nothing to be sorry for!", I whispered and kissed her forehead.

She squeezed my hand, because of the mating she was now able to sense exactly what I was feeling.

"It's not your fault! Don't even think that for a moment!", Olivia said in a strong voice.

I just smiled at her, because even in this moment where I felt like crying and breaking down, she still believed in me and encouraged me.

"And it's not Mason's fault either! Your uncle just appeared suddenly behind me and...", she trailed of and I growled.

How could I be so blind and not have realized it sooner that my uncle was the culprit.

Olivia coughed and there was blood seeping out of her mouth.

"What can I do?", I wanted to know desperately, because there was no way that she was dying in my arms

Olivia looked the healer in the eyes and answered unsurely: "I read about mate blood once."

The healer's eyes beamed in joy and he exclaimed: "OH YES! That's what we are going to do!"

I looked at them confused and asked instantly: "Okay so what do I have to do?"

The healer stepped one step closer and I immediatela growled at him. My and my wolfs emotion were like a rollercoaster.

Olivia tried to squeeze my hand in reassurance, but I could feel how weak she was getting and I panicked. "What do I have to do?", I yelled out frustrated.

"You have to give her some of your blood.", the healer explained and handed me a scalpel.

Immediately I cut myself with it and brought my now bleeding wrist to Olivia's mouth. She sucked on it and although I knew that this was neither the time nor the place for it a moan escaped my mouth.

When Olivia did not blush I knew that her condition was severe.

I pulled my hand away and saw Olivia smiling faintly at me, but there was also guilt in her eyes.

"What are you not telling me?", I asked her tightly.

Olivia had to cough again and there was more blood seeping of her mouth and she was now paler too.

Then my mate whispered: "I'm sorry, I healed Sir Alexander completely. I couldn't control it. "

I nodded at her but I just knew that there was more to it.

"What does this mean for you?"

She looked brokenly into my eyes, somehow managed it to lift her arm so that her fingers could caress my face and whispered: "That I'm not sure if the mate blood is going to work."

I had leaned into her touch, but after hearing those words I froze and stared blanly at her.

I foolishly had hoped that after giving her my blood that everything would be alright, but I was wrong.

The healer cleared his troath and said gently: "If you would let me close to her I could see what I can do to help her."

My wolf seethed in my mind how I could be so stupid not to have thought about that before. I was so busy getting to Olivia and being the only one beside her that I forgot all about the healer.

I nodded my head at the healer and he told me to get Olivia in the hospital wing the council had.

I followed his orders immediately, but once Olivia was out of my arms I felt lost all over again.

The healer asked permission to go closer and touch her and Mason and Jake had to get me out of the room, because my wolf and I had a really hard time dealing with it.

We just felt like it was the last time we could be close to our mate.

Mason and Jake wisely did not attempt to talk to me or calm me down. They just gave me some sweats to wear and let me pace up and down in front of Olivia's door.

I noticed Mason's and Jake's fallen expressions about Olivia as well, but honestly I was to busy being mad at myself.

After what felt like forever the healer came to us and told us he did everything he could do. So now all we could do was waiting.

I rushed to Olivia's side and took her pale face into my hands and kissed her soft lips. She was dresses in a hospital gown and I could see the bandages covering her chest. I did not let my mind wander in who dressed her and who was assigned to bandage her, I just wanted to be here with my mate.

With trembling fingers she traced my tattoo and I shuddered under her touch. When her fingers reached the spot where my best feature was tattooed she whispered: "I know all we can do is wait and I'm sure that your best feature will help you getting through it all!"

I, a warrior, had now tears streaming down my face and Olivia whispered: "Endurance."

Her hand fell away from my face, her eyes closed like she was just falling asleep and she whispered: "I love you!"

I felt my heart break, because those could be the last time Olivia was telling me that.
