When I first came to the warrior's HQ I quickly learned that I already had a reputation. A lot of the warrior trainees thought that I was conceited, because there was not even a test necessary to decide wether I had the gift of a warrior or not. Everybody seemed to avoid me and even the older trainees steered clear of me.

Of course I tried to make friends at first, however, when they saw me fighting or competing against other warriors the picture that they already had of me reinforced.

After several attempts to make them realize that I was not that bad of a guy I gave up and spend all my free time training in solitude.

However, then Mason and Jake came. I remember the day when I became friends with them like it was yesterday.

Since everybody was pretty much avoiding me I spend my lunch breaks in the garden of the training center. One day I heard two male voices coming my way. At first I thought that they wanted to train during the break, however, I quickly realized that they were searching for someone and it was very likely that that someone was me.

It was not rare that other boys came to me. They always wanted to fight against me to prove to their friends that they were stronger, but they always lost. At first I tried to stay clear of all the fighting, but they provoked me again and again, so I showed them who the stronger one was.

While I was sitting under a tree I heard the voices coming closer and prepared mentally for another fight. However, the two boys, who looked pretty much the same age I was, which was 13, did not seem hostile.

They froze when they spotted me under the tree and the black haired one pushed the blond haired one in my direction. The blond one shrieked and looked angrily at his friend, but he just pointed in my direction. Now I was really curious.

He took several steps in my direction, but stopped still far away from me.

"Erm..hi...me and my friend wondered if you maybe...that is if you want and have time for it..", he stuttered and looked unsure to his black haired friend behind him.

He then turned around again facing me and said more clearly: "Could you learn us how to fight properly, please?"

I was stunned, nobody had ever asked me that. I looked seriously at both of them, which made both of them flinch and when I began to stand up the blond one jerked slightly backwards.

"What are your names?", I wanted to know.

"I'm Mason and that is Jake.", the blond boy introduced them.

I observed them for several seconds and then made my way towards Mason. He did not flinch this time instead he looked me in the eyes and when I was in front of him, Mason smiled lightly at me.

At first I was a bit suspicous about his friendly behaviour, but I just thought that I could take him down in a fight any second.

His friend, Jake, also came up to us somehow uncertain and I asked them: "Why do you want to learn how to fight?"

They then explained to me that there was a very strong kid in their skill group and that he hurt other boys during training on purpose. Their warrior trainer did not notice therefore they wanted to learn to become stronger and how to fight better.

I told them that I would happily show them a few techniques in tomorrow's break and we agreed on meeting here again at lunch break tomorrow.

On the next day I came to the meeting spot, however, I did not really expect them to show up, but they did. Day after day we would secretly gather here and fight against each other.

"You know, you're really not that bad.", Mason someday told me and Jake smiled encouragingly at me and nodded. I shyly grinned back at them and quietly thanked the moongoddess for Mason and Jake.

I had accepted them as my friends a long time ago, but when they defended me against the tattle of other kids they became my best friends.

Our friendship deepend over the years as we did everything together and when we became real warriors and even got the same missions assigned to us, we were over the moon.

I even thought we would die together in the same battle, but as of today I was proven wrong.

I did not realize until now that Mason and Jake were more than just mere best friends, they were my brothers.

My wolf howled in griefing and I could feel Jake joining me in my mourning.

Never would Mason with his blue twinkling eyes look at us and tell us a joke or would make us laugh about something.

We would never hear his voice again, which could be the loudest of all if he wanted to annoy us or the lowest when we were on a mission and he tried to tell us something important.

We would never see him stuffing himself sick again, because all the food was just too delicious to eat it separately.

I would never witness the fights between Mason and Jake anymore and I could not believe that I would actually miss their banters.

I would miss Mason, my brother, who could light up a whole room with his laughter. Who was always liked by everbody and always gave his best.

Jake and I were so consumed with our griefing that we did not notice immediately the green sparks shooting out from Olivia's hands.

I saw it first and looked surprised at Olivia, still kneeling on the forest floor next to Mason. She had her eyes tightly shut together in concentration and her hands covered the spot, where Mason's heart was.

I rushed over to her and wanted to ask what she was doing, but then thought better of interrupting her and just kept to her side, my eyes focused on Mason's unmoving chest.

Jake seemed to have realized that I was not by his side any longer, because he came rushing towards us and kneeled on the other side of Mason.

He looked shocked at Olivia when suddenly Mason's chest moved up and down like he was breathing again.

Jake staggered back and even I slightly jerked back from Mason's body.

Just when the sparks from Olivia's hands began to vanish, Mason opened his eyes and gasped.
