To say that I felt out of place was a big understatement.

I thought Luna Claire, Alpha Nate's mate, was the most excited she wolf attending the mating ceremony, but clearly I was mistaken.

Although Luna Claire spend days preparing herself and, of course, us all for the ceremony nothing could have prepared me for

...well all of this.

The hall, where the mating ceremony took place was magnificent. Two flight of stairs led to the grand ballroom, where hundreds of people where already eagerly waiting for the ceremony to start.

"Where is Mason?", Jake muttered next to me.

Such as myself Jake clearly felt out of place. The otherwise truly intimidating warrior fidgeted and straightened his perfectly tied tie. Luna Claire made sure that we were all dressed in suits with matching ties. I cannot imagine how absurd we must look.

However, after observing the people here, even I had to admitt that we fitted right into place, at least with our attire.

"He's at the buffet", I told him.

"Where else was he going to be?", Jake chuckled.

"Oh man, have you guys seen the buffet?", Mason appeared behind us with lots of sweets in his hands. He beamed as he crammed a muffin into his mouth.

"Wohw Mason. Now I know why you never get a girl!", Jake snorted.

Mason rolled his eyes and left. Probably heading for the buffet again.

"Are you having fun?", Alpha Nate asked. Although he attempted to seem realxed, he was anything but.

"Are you?", I questioned him.

Alpha Nate dropped his shoulders and answered: "Not really, I mean have you seen all the wolves oggling my mate? She doesn't even understand why I'm aggitated!"

At this statement I had to grin. Luna Claire kept herself busy chatting to other she wolves. Earlier in the evening she had made it perfectly clear to her mate that she wanted to spend a nice evening without all the "Alpha possesivenes", as she called it.

Alpha Nate really tried, but he kept stealing glances in her direction and making death glares if some male wolf even dared to step closer to his mate.

Before I could feel envious of their relationship Mason spun towards us with a she wolf in his arms.

He grinned smugly in Jake's direction and continued dancing with the awed girl.

Jake cursed and stomped away.

"Okay that's enough. I'm an Alpha for God's sake, nobody can tell me what to do except myself!", and with that Alpha Nate went to Luna Claire, leaving me alone.

Unsure of what to do I began to stroll towards the balcony. Fresh air would surely be good for me.

As I was about to step onto the balcony I smelled a scent unfamiliar to me.

It smelled like vanilla and cinnamon.

The scent appealed to me in a way that was new to me. My wolf was restless and wanted to know... no demanded to know... to whom this scent belonged.

I turned around.
