After this rather formal meeting Alpha Lockhart asked me to stay behind so he coud speak alone with me. I anticipated this, but it still felt odd for my wolf and I to let Olivia leave my arms.

She kissed me once very sweet and much to my regret very briefly before she left her father's study.

I watched her leave until her mother, who also left together with her brother , closed the door.

I turned my head and also my attention back on my mate's father, who he smiled softly at me.

„I can tell you are already smitten with our Live!" Alpha Lockhart took a seat and gestured with his hands for me to do so as well.

„I am sir! I can only imagine how that must have looked with all the stories about males wanting Olivia, but I guarantee you she is my mate!", I told him a bit angry about the fact that I had to mention MY mate's past suitors.

„I do believe you warrior, it's just hard to grasp the fact that a healer and a warrior, both people, who aren't destined to have mates, because they are gifted, found themselves mates on the exact same day. And not only that, but they are also destined to each other." The Alpha turned around so he could observe the people who gathered in the garden downstairs.

„When you hear about werewolf history their origin is always mentioned first and after that the young pups learn about mates. I recall the day our Live has learned about mates and how thrilled she was when she told us about what they had learned in school that day. However, soon we found out that Live was gifted with the talent of a healer. It broke her heart, but she didn't show it, because one of the things she absolutely loved to do was helping people. Life just wasn't the same after this day. She is a very good healer one of the best if you ask me, but then again I'm her father and probably biased. Live loves her calling as she likes to call her job, but it's also the reason why she can't have a mate, something she looked forward to since she was 6 years old. And now you are here, her mate. It just seems so surreal for a healer and a warrior to find their mate."

It hurt me that Olivia's dream of a mate was chrashed so soon in her life, but then again I had to face the same slap of reality. So I could relate to her suffering and I was determined to end it and make her the happiest female in this known universe.

„My uncle is in the werewolf council. I would like to take Olivia to him and explain our situation to the council. I don't want there to be any problems or misunderstandings so I think our best chances are if we put all our cards on the table. Maybe they have an idea why Olivia and I are mates."

The council was almost never concerned with mate problems, but this situation seemed to be worth their time. Furthermore if Olivia and I woud never tell the council about us being mates and they would find out, it would seem to them that Olivia and I did something illegal. We would eventually mark each other, which was inevitable if your were true mates, but to the council it must look like a fake mating as a healer and warrior did not have mates. Then we both would be in serious trouble and I wanted to avoid that.

„Your uncle you say. Who is he?" The Alpha had turned around to face me again and looked at me inquiring.

As an Alpha you were invited by the council twice a year to discuss your pack and any problems that occured. Therefore the Alphas knew all the council members. The council members consisted of 15 very powerful werewolves, who were selected by the moongoddess like healers and warriors. If you want to become a council member you have to pass a very difficult test when you are at the age of 6. If you pass one of the 15 council members takes you under his or her wings and trains you in various things until he or she dies so you could take their place. Needless to say that being a council member elected was a very sought-after position, but just a few every 100 years suceeded. The last elected member was my uncle and this was because he took the position of my father, who was murdered 20 years ago. My father was still young so there was nobody he had taken under his wing who could take his place. The council decided my uncle was next in line as they needed the 15th member to keep the balance in the werewolf world.

„Sir John." The council members did not really have titles like Alpha or Luna so everybody settled on calling them Sir or Lady.

The Alpha's face took a strange expression as he just nodded and turned to face the window again.

After a while he told me: „ I think it's a good idea to ask the council for help or an explanation!"

I took that as my key to leave. I was eager to see my mate again and hold her in my arms.

Before I opened the door to leave the Alpha told me softly: „And call me Will."
