Butterfly

my little butterfly,

flap your wings to the sky,

I can't reach that high,

for you I'd say goodbye.

you're a creature of beauty,

even more than eyes can see.

Why not let yourself be free?

I won't cage you here with me.

You don't belong here I know,

in this place of pain and woe.

Please let your true colors show,

for me won't you ever go?

Truly I wish you could stay,

growing harder day by day.

It's not meant to be this way,

listen to the words I say.

I am not like you,

sad but so true,

saw how you flew,

I always knew.

So much potential dear,

yet you can't use it here.

The future isn't clear,

but butterfly don't fear.

I'll always be around,

watching here from the ground.

Seeing you pure and unbound,

changing in ways profound.
