The Ledge

Closer to catastrophe,

in the moment couldn't see,

just kept on pushing forward,

the repercussions ignored.

Love clouded my view,

to what he could do.

His words had lead me astray,

they're still hurting to this day.

Drawing me in with sweet lies,

as he looked into my eyes.

those things I wanted to hear,

only told to draw me near.

Gentle but tainted kisses,

selling empty promises.

I thought he would care,

and always be there.

A victim without resistance,

seeing once I closed the distance,

lured onto the edge,

he pushed me off that ledge.
