You're Mine

Dear don't step out of line,

say you'll only be mine.

My sweet little bird,

why is that unheard?

Stay in my hold,

this cage of gold,

never to be free,

while you still have me.

You are meant to stay,

hatched to live this way,

so why do you insist,

trying to resist?

Struggling to fly,

kept from the sky.

Binding you to Earth,

keeping all your worth.

Selfish is it wrong,

keeping you for that song?

The music I used to hear,

telling of life and cheer.

That joy is slowly fading,

no longer serenading.

A life of repression,

shows in your expression.
