Night terrors

Awake in the night hours,

alone the child cowers.

Demons in her head,

from fear they are feed.

Hoping for a light,

in the cold cruel night,

but not even a spark,

she is trapped in the dark.

Pitch black closed and open eyes,

she cannot rest but won't rise.

The girl doesn't make a sound,

hiding from what lurks around.

Shadows without faces,

hiding without traces,

they're only seen by her,

it's what she must endure.

The terror she's forced to feel,

they all say it isn't real.

She tries to believe,

but the beasts won't leave.
