Charles
We arrived at the school ten minutes late. We were scolded and rushed to our guide. Everyone ran to try not be late, though there was no point, to the meeting spot, everyone except Evan. We made our introductions and she stood silently behind us.
"Princess Julie of Slovakia, we are terribly sorry we are late," Alex apologized.
"Please accept our apology," Mason asked. Wait a second.., Mason did what now?
"I do," she replied, "And who's that girl in the back? Is she your sister?"
"That's Evan, she's new and may be around for a while," I answer.
"I would have said so myself, if I wanted the whole world to know, junky," Evan told me.
"Harsh much?" the princess says in my ear.
"Yeah, really," I huff under my breath.
She laughs.
"Achemm," the tour guide got our attention. "May the tour commence. Now, we will first go to the main building where you will make your schedules and collect all of the uniform parts."
The group walked in silence except for the whispered debate Mason and James were having. Alex stayed at the back with Evan. I hope he will survive middle school. It can be fierce and scary.
We walk in the main building and most of the office workers are behind computer screens typing away at whatever. I don't care. We are led to the back of the offices and our uniforms are handed out. Mine has pressed, dark blue pants, a crisp white, button-up shirt, along with a pressed, silk, black tie and a dark blue jacket with the school crest sewn onto it. My brothers have the exact same outfit in their hands.
The two girls had short, dark blue pleated skirts, white blouses, and the dark blue jacket also.
Evan looked like she had never seen a skirt before and was about to throw it in the trash, but Princess Julie caught her. Evan seems total tomboy, even her name is like a guys! Princess Julie looked like this was normal. She is currently wearing a skirt now, so I guess it is.
"By any chance can I get a pair of pants instead of this skirt," she said and held the skirt with two fingers far from herself.
"I am sorry miss, but no," the guide answered.
"I was afraid of that," she said disappointed.
"The jackets are optional, hardly anyone wears them, except when it is cold. You will wear a pair of black shoes, this is not something the school will provide you with. Nothing except the uniform may be worn and it is prohibited to wear it anywhere outside the school grounds except coming to and from the school," the tour guide eyed Evan's gloves. She conspicuously pulled them behind her back.
"Please come this way, everyone. you will now sign up for classes and get your books." He leads us to a computer lab, where six computers are booted up and expecting us to get on. All of us sat down.
"Evan, you will need to take the entrance test before proceeding," the king summoned.
She stood back up and walked out of the room with another person and mom went along.
"Please type your full first and last name along with your tittle in the box."
We did as we were told.
"Then scroll down and pick your classes. There are several options. First go to English and find your grade and click on it. That will be the course you will go to. Then scroll to math, it can be tricky. What math class did you take last year, Prince Mason?"he asked.
"Ummm, Dad?"
"Algebra II, son."
"You will be a senior and have all of your math credits, you can choose either pre-calculus or a free period."
"Yes! No math!" Mason basically yelled.
"Then leave it blank," the guide said. "Princess Julie, what math were you in?"
"Geometry, but I want to challenge myself," she states.
"Then click on Honors Algebra II and Prince James?"
"Math 8," he says ashamed, almost.
"Then click on Algebra I," replied the guide. "Prince Charles?"
"Algebra I and I'll be going into Geometry, correct?"
"Yes and I would also recommend you take Honors. Last, but not least Prince Alexander.
"Fifth grade and it was boring as all get out!" Alex exclaims.
"Then I recommend math 6/7, which is math 6 an math 7 all in one year. It is a more rigorous course, than just one or the other."
"Okay, I hope it will be better," Alex clicks on the screen and selects his choice.
"Social studies, just click on you grade again and same with science," the guide informed us. "And now time for electives! These are classes that you choose to do."
I looked through the list. There is tech, choir, band, art, home ec, computer class, languages, agriculture, and some others. I click on languages and scroll down the list, Japanese, German, Spanish, Latin, and French. Since, we have to take one, I choose Latin. I click on Latin I. I see Julie chose French and Alex can't take a language yet. I can't see Mason's or James's computer all that well. I randomly pick a another elective and chose home ect. The computer loaded it into the system and printed out my schedule and student ID number.
My student ID is 76311. Ironic, it's the castles address number.
"This will be your scheduale..."
Evan came back in and got on the computer. I guess she passed.
"...for the upcoming year school starts in a little less than a month. Now younge lady..."
"I know what to do," she cut him off. "I've been to school before."
"What math are you taking?" Princess Julie asks.
"Calculus," she says as her information is printing. She took a quarter of the time, I took to fill out the same form.
My eyes go wide and she gets up and joins the rest of us on the tour.
