Eevon.
We arrived at the school ten minutes late. We were scolded, while trying to get there on time or at least not as late. We are late, being one minute late is as bad as being ten minutes late! Late is Late!
"Princess Julie Constare of Slovakia, we are terribly sorry we are late," Alex apologized.
We had done introductions on the way over in the car. Now I don't have an excuse to call them bastards or fuckers.
"Please accept our apology," Mason asked.
"I do," she replied, "and who's that girl in the back? Is she your sister?"
Hell no! I am soooo not related to them!
"That's Evan, she's new and may be around for a while," Charles (a.k.a. Dean) said.
"I would have said so myself, if I wanted the whole world to know, junky," I explained.
The princess says something in his ear, then laughs. I already don't like her.
"Achemm," the tour guide got our attention. "May the tour commence. Now, we will first go to the main building where you will make your schedules and collect all of the uniform parts."
The group walked in silence except for the whispered debate Mason and James were having. Alex stayed at the back with me. He seems like the best apple in the bunch. That doesn't mean I like him any.
We walk in the main building and a bunch of people are just typing. Boring!
We are led to the back of the offices and our uniforms are handed out.
I am given a short dark blue pleated skirt, white blouse, and a dark blue jacket with the school crest. I like the jacket, but I'm jealous of the guys' pants. They are damn lucky!
I tried to sneak the skirt in the trash can but, the stupid princess had to stop me. "By any chance can I get a pair of pants instead of this skirt," I ask and hold the skirt with two fingers far from myself.
"I am sorry miss, but no," the guide answered.
"I was afraid of that." My eyes fall to the floor.
"The jackets are optional, hardly anyone wears them except when it is cold. You will wear a pair of black shoes, this is not something the school will provide you with. Nothing except the uniform may be worn and it is prohibited to wear it anywhere outside the school grounds except coming to and from the school," the tour guide stared at my boxing wraps. I pulled them behind my back slightly, they are not going anywhere!
"Please come this way, everyone. You will now sign up for classes and get your books." He leads us to a computer lab, where six computers are booted up and ready for us. We all take a seat.
"Evan, you will need to take the entrance test before proceeding," the king summoned.
As soon as I sat I had to stand back up and walked out of the room with another person. The Queen followed behind me.
We walked next door to another lab. There was a man and a computer waiting for me.
"Hello, miss?" he asks.
"Evan," I answer and counter, "Yours?"
"Jimmy and you will be taking the placement test. It is a simple multiple choice and free answer test. You have the choice of an oral or written test. Most people..."
"Oral!" I practically shout.
"Are you sure?" the queen asked behind me.
"Of course, it's the same test except in a different format."
"Let's begin then, Evan."
"Wait, can I make you a deal?"
"What kind of deal?"
"If I get a perfect score on this exam, may I be exempt from taking pre-calc."
"As long as you have taken all of the prerequisites for the course I don't see why not. Just for your information, though, no one has ever had a perfect score."
"I'll take that as a yes and a challenge."
"Let the exam begin. Please spell your name for me."
"E-E-V-O-N." I could hear the clock tick in the distance. I skipped a few questions here and there, but answered them later. I then submit my answers and wait for the results. I know I missed number 43. It was ten times the square root of three, not ten times the square root of two. "May I have my answers back? I need to change number 43."
"I am sorry, but you already submitted your answers," Jimmy told me. "I'm sure you did well."
"I know I did well, but I have our bet riding on my score result."
"Are you sure that is that big of a deal? I'm sure that we could get your score tweaked if it means that much to you," the Queen told me.
"So that's how Mason got in."
"Of corse not!"
"We all know you're lying, don't taint your image more," I said.
"I have your results, Evan. You got your perfect score"
"No I didn't. I missed number 43. I feel it is insulting that you would fudge my results. The answer to that question was ten times the square root of three, correct?"
"Yes."
"And my answer was ten times the square root of two."
"Yes."
"Thanks, but no matter what I was going to skip pre-calc. your answer just made it official." ask stood I said, "I hate pity."
I walk back over and the royals were finishing up.
"This will be your schedule for the upcoming year school. It starts in a little less than a month. Now young lady..."
"I know what to do," I cut him off. "I've been to school before." I get on the closest computer and quickly fill everything out. My electives are Latin I and tech. I pick out honors calculus, because I had Algebra II last year. Along with regular history and honors science. I stick with regular English. I can't let people know I can read well.
"What math are you taking?" Princess Julie's question interrupts my thoughts.
"Calculus," I say and print my information.
I look up and see some wide eyed people. It's not a big deal. It's just an advanced math.
...............................................................
Just FYI taking calculus as a freshman in high school is astounding. The classes go: algebra I, geometry, algebra II, pre-calc or linear algebra, calc, trig... idk the rest.
