"Bye Hun, Rachel!" My dad says, closing the front door behind her and Mom.
"Let's move!" Lindsay and I run upstairs into my room. "Go! Go!" We press our ears against the wall so we can her Nikki in Jesse's room.
"Hey, Jess? Can I use your phone for a minute? Mine died and my mom wants me to check in."
"Yeah sure, here."
"Thanks." Nikki walks into my room and closes the door. "Got it!" She mouths.
"Great, call him! Linds, go distract her."
"Okay." Lindsay leaves my room. The phone stops ringing.
"Hello," a voice on the other side asks.
"Pretend you're Jess," I mouth to Nikki.
"Okay," she mouths back. "Hey, I had a lot of fun last night."
"I did too. We should go out again sometime," John says. I roll my eyes.
"You know, we could hang out at my house right now. It's just me."
"Yeah, okay. I'll be there in ten."
"Okay, bye."
"Bye." He hangs up.
"Idiot," Nikki says.
"Dimwit."
