I ring the doorbell of the Smiths' house. Carter opens it. "Hey, Jules."
"Ooh, you've nicknamed a nickname. Well, then Rome." I walk in and set a bag of chips on the table. "Linds here yet?" He gives me a kiss.
"No." The doorbell rings. "Yes." He opens the door.
"Here's your soda. And more chips." She sets them on the table next to mine. "Where's Rye?"
"His room," says Carter.
"Thanks." She goes upstairs. Nikki and Jessie walk through the door.
"Remind me why we didn't just come together?" I ask Jessie.
"I have no idea." She and Nikki plop on the couch. "Can you hand me the chips?"
"Get your feet off the couch," I say. "And no. Ms. Smith is making burgers."
"Uuh," she groans. "Fine." Jimmy and Devin walk in. They sit up.
"Hey, I'm Devin." He says to Jessie and Nikki, shaking their hand.
"I'm Nikki. That's my friend Jess. Nice beanie."
"Thanks. Cart, can I go raid your brother's room?"
"Sure. Linds is in there, though."
"So?" He runs upstairs. I hear a bang and screams. I laugh.
