Ding Dong! "I'll get it!" I yell. I run downstairs and open the door.
"Hey," John says. I slam the door shut.
"Who is it?" Jessie asks, coming downstairs.
"Um, I don't know," I say. "I think they were looking for the wrong house.
"Really? Are they still there?" She opens the door.
"No!"
"John?" She looks over at me. "It was John?"
"Sorry," I mouth.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm having a Halloween party. You're invited."
"No! She will not be going!" I walk over and try to close the door. John's foot stops it.
"I was asking your sister."
"Too bad!" I say. Dad walks into the room.
"Who's that?" He asks.
"No one," I say. "And he was just leaving." I slam the door shut. "Jessie."
I walk up the stairs into my room. She follows.
"What?" She asks.
"Were you really thinking of saying yes?" I ask. "He broke your heart! Ice cream couldn't fix it! You are not, n-o-t, not going to that party!"
"I wasn't planning on it, but now that you've decided you're all high and mighty, maybe I will!"
"Get out of my room."
